Ants are terrible this year (Suggestions on DIY stuff used)

I live in South Alabama near lake area.
Ants this year are worst i have ever seen.
Any suggestion on Do it yourself stuff you can spread out or mix..
I have seen ppl say use Comet or Ajax..
Any ideas..

Diatomaceous earth.
Safe, non-toxic. Dries their little carapaces (carapaci?) right the frick out.

I have always heard mixing two ant beds together will end both beds.
Two shovels
Replace the scoop from one bed with a scoop from another!

I don't know of any home remedies. But this website has good info.

Anything with Bifenthrin should work for most ant species. I'd get some granules with that chemical and spread it around the yard. You can also spray the mounds directly with Bifenthrin liquid.

Some beds go several feet down into the ground.
I've used the shovel method on new small beds, but it won't do the trick on the big beds.

Try using Talstar. Mix it up in a sprayer, Stir the bed up, and spray it on there. Find it works and will keep the ants away for quite some time.

There is a global ant war going on. We just don't notice it.
Ive always just put the powder on the ant hills and it takes care of it.

if its a small yard, just wash them out with a hose. they will find higher ground somewhere else.

Earlier in the summer after an exceptional amount of rain, I had ant beds all over my yard. I used Bifen I/T. I alternate between it and Demon for DIY pest control in my house.
I mixed up a batch and soaked every active bed. After I mowed the next time, I waited a few days to see how many beds were reconstructed. None were. Now, after about six weeks, I’m seeing a bed here and there, but it’s probably only about 10% of what it was before I sprayed.

I put Talstar (granules) in a fertilizer distributor and coated my yard. No ant mounds.
I’ve been doing this for years and have seen it last as long as 18 months.
If you spot treat the mounds, you just get new mounds elsewhere.

Everyone else has covered my answers. I did read this though > mix equal parts powdered sugar and baking soda and dust the mound. The sugar attracts, the soda kills. Just a rumor I heard, no idea if that works or not.

Yep. Works on any bugs with exoskeleton. I use it on corner of my shop doors and it stops any bug problems.

I have used that method with very moderate success. The Bifen I/T was much more effective.
