3 pronged approach:
1) Treat the yard-Talstar PL granules
2) If they are inside the house, ant bait gel
3) Treat outside perimeter, doors, wndows, and interior perimter with Suspend SC pesticide.

Borax, sugar, water, and a little honey in a small plastic cup killed all of the indoor ants at my house

This has worked in my yard fairly well. Follow instructions on time of day and make sure it isn't going to rain or sprinklers running after.

My spreader has a pull trigger, and I pull it about halfway and walk. Talstar is like sand, so if you have the spreader wide open it just runs out the bottom. Have to keep it partially open, and on my spreader that means pull the trigger halfway.
Don’t cut the Talstar with anything. I did that with fertilizer one year and it wasn’t effective.
Also, the granules are activated by moisture, so you won’t see results until your yard gets wet.
Costs $45 for 25 lbs. I used 125 lbs on about 1.5 acres this year.

1 part borax 4 parts sugar is a mixture they use at the golf course I attempt to play at. It seems to be working.

Scott’s Triple Action fertilizer. Stuff will keep ants away for 100-120 days. Crazy good product for bugs. I’m sure there’s better for fertilizer though.

Advion......shite works for months spread properly throughout your yard. Now if you're up against carpenter ants, use Advance carpenter ant granular plus a gel bait. Those frickers can't make up their mind on what they want.

Bifen / Talstar kills everything buggy, not just ants. Kills amphibians and fish too. Excessive exposure to mammals like humans also causes kidney failure. It would be a very bad idea to cropdust the whole south with it.
Amdro bait granules sprinkled on and around mounds works. It's not overnight, but withing a week that mound will be gone, and it won't just pop up 30 feet away 2 weeks later, like the granules that you have to water in. I would only use those if i have a big event in my back yard and I needed a temporary kill. If you use the Amdro bait, it takes longer but is much longer lasting.

Taurus SC is also a good option.

This!!!! I’ve sprayed about 1.5 acre yard with Taurus SC once a year in the spring for the past 10-12 years and haven’t seen a single ant pile. I still have to spray separately for spiders as I live on a lake.

Diotomaceous earth for ant beds, it washes away in the rain so use correctly. Stomp bed to get them out, then powder them. They all die. Use a mask, dont want that shite in your lungs.
Inside, we got the 128 Oz mighty mint peppermint oil to spray on entrances and whatever gets in. Kills the trails and keeps em out. Hasn't been fool proof but we've had a lot less ants indoors and everyone is dealing w ants coming in around my area.
