usually a time limit, first six months of the policy, after that it's covered, although it's been a while since I've looked at/purchased life insurance

It's typical for celebs to purchase real estate in blind trusts for security reasons. Then every time they sell and purchase another property, they start another blind trust. Otherwise, TMZ would know everything they do. This reported net worth was probably all that was in his persona name. He had that show "The Taste" which I'm sure he got paid some good money for since it was a network program.

He was a best selling author which made him rich before he was even on television. I’m sure he had money in trusts all over the place.

He had more money, it was put into a trust fund for his kid.

Not surprising at all, hasn't he been through multiple divorces?

People always over estimate what a celebrity is worth. All of those "celebrity net worth" sites are nonsense.

Previous estimates had pegged his fortune at $16 million.

1/10th to 1/4 is probably a fairly accurate guess of true celebrity net worth on those sites.
16M - pfffttt.

This is the answer on all of the reality based programs.

Damn, between his books, his show on the travel channel and then on CNN, I would think he would have had more than that..

And I think I read, that for each season of his show on CNN he spent 200 days a year on the road. I am sure he didn't have to spend much of his money while filming..

Why? Poor money management is not exclusive to lower incomes, you don't have to look hard to find people that have made tens of millions of dollars over the course of their working life and are basically broke, I have one in my family.

Didn't we just have a thread recently about Johnny Depp blowing $650 million?

That's a dumbass keeping 8 million in a checking account. He's only insured for 250k and it's losing money accounting for inflation

If Chase bank fails, then there is probably a depression coming.

Would you risk it? Plenty of big banks failed in 08.
