When did you decided to turn the OT into your personal antiques road show?

There was a garage sale next to my house, an old antique business and before that a flower shop, yesterday morning...I didn’t even walk over to check it out.

I find these threads entertaining. I’ve never understood, if someone doesn’t like a poster or a particular topic, why they would waste their time opening a thread and commenting about it? It doesn’t make sense.

I agree. This keeps the OT genuinely interesting. Who cares if it pushes another "who wants their knuckles checked" thread off the front page

I like going to estate sales and garage sales. If I was retired(I’m in my 30’s) I would be doing the same thing just to have fun and keep busy. Keep posting these threads, I enjoy seeing the stuff you find.

Nobody. Especially the OP. Adults share interesting life experiences with one another.

Nerds link stories from Facebook and Twitter.

That was me. Can you just send the human hair? That’s all I’m interested in and it will save on shipping.

Nice... If you find any items from (ahem) WWII. let me know.. I dig letters and home front items etc.. But Daggers, helmets, and guns are cool too.

Just to give you an idea. I picked this up the other day off Ebay. Unfortunately it is not dated. But I am speculating that it is period.. and privately printed advertisement from the Court of Two Sisters.

For the estate sales, do you show up at opening to be first? Is there usually a crowd? Do you bring your own bag to carry stuff?

I use to show up a couple hours early just to be number one, especially if I worked the night before, I’d head over when I got off. This was back when I collected LSU and toys. I showed up at John Ferguson’s estate sale at midnight to guarantee me to be #1. I knew my main competition would be just 10 secs behind me, so I had to just grab and dash everything, then decide later if I wanted it.
For some reason, a lot of estate sales have started making the first day on Thursday afternoon.

I'd say that's wartime for sure. Lots of places, especially new orleans, where lots of servicemen came through would make souvenir programs for them to take home

If it bothers you in some way, then don't click on the thread. No one is forcing you to read his posts.

I really like these posts.

I have no idea how you are so knowledgeable about what has value and what is trash.
