He's a strange cat.

He is, but not as strange as former warden Murray Henderson, who shot the hell out of his wife at her home in St. Francisville after she told him the marriage wasn't going to work out. She owns Butler-Greenwood plantation and he showed up in between the time that guests check out and check in when hardly anyone is around. They sat on the back glassed in sunroom and he shot her several times and then sat in his chair watching her bleed. A maid happened to come in to get some laundry and he told the maid Anne was asleep in the chair. She thought something was off and called someone or maybe the police. In any event, she shouldn't have lived, but she did and he died subsequently in prison.

I've read her book about it called "Weep for the Living" and talked with her about when I stayed at Butler-Greenwood a few times. Interesting story and a very fast read.

Cain is right about one thing. It's going to take a strong Governor to twist some arms and spend some political capital to get a loop built.

No, because at some point you have to realize that the NIMBY's will never allow what needs to be done, done. A small percentage hold back an entire city/parish.

The guy runs Angola like a mob boss. No way he should be anywhere near the governor's mansion. He is one of these guys that is a bible thumper in public and a pimp behind the scenes.

In a way, Burl Cain is right.

A loop or any other new bridges being built in or around Baton Rouge is going to take an incredibly powerful governor that's willing to kick and bully the shite out of anybody that has an interest in stopping such an infrastructure project and that would be nimbys, parish presidents, EPA, and environmental activists. They fall in line, the infrastructure upgrades will happen.

A mixture of a governor like Huey Long, Edwin Edwards and maybe Bobby Jindal would do the trick. David Vitter has been talking a lot about traffic problems, call me naive and hopelessly optimistic but maybe he'll be that governor we need as far as interstate loops, new bridges and upgrading traffic infrastructure in BR go.

The political will has to be high enough to get it started and people in Louisiana respond well to the Emperor of Louisiana because lets face it, the Governor of Louisiana is extremely powerful with lots of teeth compared to most states that has relatively weak Governors like New York and Texas.

It's the only way shite gets done in this state.

The reason you could build the interstate highway system through highly populated areas in the 50s and 60s was you had a large class of literally disenfranchised blacks whose neighborhoods you could build the interstates in.

It's messed up, but it's also factually true.

Dipshit wouldn't have my vote. It doesn't work like that unless you are the leader of North Korea. Any poster agreeing with him is a total dipshit as well.

We have spent enough on studies to build some kind of bridge bypass or loop. It is a disgrace to the city to have and Interstate merge into local traffic.

The only reason we do not have a loop is simply LA politics.

We built a bridge in Gramercy and one in St Francisville

that is a complete waste of taxpayer dollars- that bridge should have been built somewhere south of the new bridge(which is not new any more!)

too late for a city wide "loop". maybe 30 years ago, but not in 2015.

shut down the washington street exit and overhaul it. build another bridge that is a bypass.
