9/11 has nothing to do with big arse strollers not being allowed on planes.

Why are they allowing these items on the plane in the first place?
Have you ever been on a plane? They give you a ticket for items you have to check plane-side. You take it down the ramp and check it there, except that the entitled bitch decided that rule only applies to other people.
Seriously, frick her, and frick every one of those goddamn assholes who delays my flight because they're trying to smuggle an elephant in their bags into the fricking overhead.

What is it with foreigners on airplanes?
The guy in Chicago was Chinese, right? OK, "Chinese-American."
I guess we're lucky they didn't holler "Allah Akbar" (too soon)?

Nobody is perfect. Flying with children is stressful. Flight attendant should have deescalated and stayed calm instead of being a dick.

This stroller should have never made it this far.
At security they should have checked it in for the customer

I've been on about 1500 flights since 911, and the problems are almost NEVER with the airline. Passengers get shittier every year. They're taking a fast, convenient, clean mode of travel and turning it into a Greyhound bus.

You can't bring a stroller on, that's it. That's the rules. End of story. Stay on the plane and leave the stroller or get off and stay with the stroller.
For everyone saying you can't bring a stroller on, this is taken from American's contract of carriage
quote:
"Fully collapsible strollers may be carried on board with the passenger as long as they fit in an overhead bin. Strollers exceeding a maximum weight of 20lbs or that are not capable of being transported inside the cabin due to size must be checked at a ticket counter. American will not assume liability when ordinary standard of care is taken."
AA COC
So you are in fact allowed to bring strollers on board as long as they fit overhead. If it didn't fit, then you have to gate check. Does anyone really know in this scenario if the stroller didn't fit or was it one of the flight attendants that got overzealous because they thought all strollers had to be gate-checked? I've heard a lot of bad things about AA's gate agents and flight attendants based out of San Fran so this may be the norm for out there

They don't allow them. Usually F/As will stop customers from bringing them on but with airlines putting more on flight crews during down time it's not hard for it to slip by.
As for the white night.... he is lucky that he wasn't reported to a CSS and been charged with making terroristic threats to a flight crew.....
Passengers are such assholes and feel entitled.

A lot was done wrong by a lot of folks involved in this. heck even the pilot seemed to be at a loss for what to do.
But given everything that has taken place with United you would think the flight attendant of all people would understand the importance of being incredibly cautious in a situation like this.
Air travel just sucks in general. At this rate how in the world can the industry truly turn the tide with respect to customer satisfaction?

quote:My first question after watching the video is 'what the frick is that pilot doing just standing there looking confused?" Is he not the ultimate authority on the plane? He doesn't say a single word. It's clear the flight attendant has lost control of the situation, the passenger is a foreign national with fricking twins, who is clearly out of her mind, and he's not stepping in and taking over? That dude needs a foot in his arse.

Never said it did, I did say that it made flying a pain in the arse, and incidents like the recent 2 will only make it worse. Some idiot is going to recommend "passenger vetting" at the gate or some such shite & we'll be in the airport all day for a 2 hour flight.
And yes, a lot of the problems are due to dumb arse passengers.

The video starts at the end of the situation. If the F/As say you can't have the stroller then you have to give it up. Acting like an a-hole won't let you keep the stroller and could lead to a bunch of shite for you. The airline will recover. If United and American can survive post 9-11 then a few dipshit customers won't hurt.

Only babies are allowed to have loud emotional outbursts on planes. So no matter the situation just don't do it...unless the plane is going down.

When traveling alone with 2 small children, the stroller is needed to get through security and on the plane. That is why they aren't usually checked with luggage but at the gate. This might have been the 1st time the Mom was flying with 2 small infants and didn't know the stroller would be gate checked and waiting for her when she got off the plane - available to use to get kids to luggage. People saying she should have checked with luggage obviously haven't travelled alone with 2 littles.
Obviously, the situation escalated unnecessarily and the Mom certainly got more emotional than I would have but t seems some gentle education and assurance to the Mom would have been better used than frustration and aggression. The employee who boarded the plane and bowed up to the idiot male passenger should absolutely be removed. His anger and aggression was completely out of place and unprofessional.

Recently traveled with an infant
They tag your stroller at the gate. You then roll down the jetway, and leave the stroller before you board the plane. The steward meet you at the plane, and tells you to leave the stroller on the jetway, and pick it up, on your way out.
So, if she either refused, or didn't understand him, and just rolled on past him. He probably was pissed that she continued to blatantly disregard his instructions
But her seizing the Argentinian mantle, means she expected special privileges
And the white knight should have been removed instantly. He was the biggest threat of the entire situation
