Yeah the cost of living is high...because it's a highly desirable place to live. You get what you pay for.
So how's it a shitty city? Or do people choose to pay more to live here so they can have statistics "favor coastal cities"?
I don't see anyone "scrambling" around here to "stem hemorrhage" - prices continue to rise and everywhere you look, new residential properties are being built.

boston is the best city ive ever been to
I was going to my hotel and getting nervous because there were tire shops and liquor stores next to it but then I got there and the hotel was nice and I was able to walk to the liquor store at night and people were waving at me on the street and whatnot
It's like the pilgrims had a whole city to themselves
I got to the airport and the people were all nice looking, even in the airport. I was looking for the new orleans terminal, and I noticed a crowd of fat and tattooed people and was thinking, maybe that's the new orleans terminal
it was the new orleans terminal

you could argue atlanta if Amazon was a major producer of bullet proof vests or something like that but I think boston fits amazon better

Exactly. The people on this thread talking about COL or taxes aren't thinking like execs. Execs of Amazon are thinking globally. And they want to attract talent to global cities. Boston fits the bill.
Atlanta is the best southern city to do this but probably doesn't have the..."intangibles".

Nevermind Nashville and similar sized cities (Austin, Charlotte, Columbus, Raleigh Durham), even with places like Dallas and Atlanta, huge metros in their own right, they could save hundreds of millions even billions each and every year just on costs alone by locating to these places.
Of course, executives must not think about things like costs or anything.

As I said, the execs don't have anything to personally worry about, but to shell out that much more in higher incomes, etc. to 50,000 employees sure as hell attracts the attention of stockholders.

The type of people that are going to work for Amazon would be working for a Silicon Valley firm anyway or in NYC in finance. They would be living in New York or California. Taxes are not a factor here.

I'm taking this as both an insult and an unintentional complement. Regardless, my point is that wherever the choose, Amazon is going to be a lot more systematic than RedRifle and his "thinking like an executive" notions.
