Dallas is where a lot of corporate headquarters are located because it's an ideal place to be.
I'm hoping they don't come. I don't need worse traffic and more expensive houses than what we already have.

As always, it comes down to the individual. Especially in the legal field where, for example, firms pay the same across markets. Houston and sometimes Austin are put on the same pay scale as NYC.
Of course, some choose to try to gut it out because the partner payoff in NYC should theoretically have a much higher ceiling.

A good chunk of Alabama votes solidly democrat in state and local elections. By this metric Alabama is not a conservative state.

Austin is 100x better and most people would agree. A lot would argue it against those other cities too.
