As usual, the hypocrisy is stunning. Make an alt history show about the Confederacy winning and people lose their minds. But this is perfectly OK and will, no doubt, score a box car of Emmys.

Didn't Amazon do the show about the Nazi's taking over America

And for some reason there was not any kind of uproar here or on the political board. Imagine that.

So all of the south is Jackson Mississippi?

If not it is myth making.

The mayor of Jackson, MS is probably trying to sponsor this show.

They should've named it The Republic of New Afrika and been done with it. The new mayor of Jackson, MS would love it.

They made C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America (2004) and I don't recall anyone being upset. "Set in an contemporary alternative world where the Confederate States of America managed to win the American Civil War, a British film documentary examines the history of this nation."

Of course, it didn't make the confederates look like champions of virtue. They owned slaves.

You must have missed the current melt down of snowflakes over the proposed show by the Game of Thrones creator. HBO is catching all kinds of hell for creating an alt history piece.

And in response to Tangerine implying above that not protesting the Nazi show makes the OT sympathetic to Nazis (the implication is clear), he misses the point entirely. As usual. No one got in an uproar about the show because it's a fricking TV show you moron. Just like I don't give two fricks if they make this show where slaves run the south. It's a TV show, if I don't like it I won't watch it. Take off your "everything is racial" glasses and read what is written again.

Oh, I saw it. I think it is hilarious that the "get over it, pussy" crowd is very concerned that slaveholders won't get a positive portrayal in a TV show.

There are plenty of alternate history books about the CSA winning the war, I've never heard of anybody making a tv show out of that happening. But if they did I don't think anybody would care.

Like I just posted, there is one in pre-production and people are all over HBO about it.

History has been whitewashed ,literally, to diminish the African American influence on civilization. Columbus wouldn't have made it to America without a black navigator. Jack Daniels wouldn't have his liquor without a free black man showing him how to distill whisky. The list goes on and on, but for some of you to figure that the world would be in total chaos is absurd. Google the black Wall Street to educate yourself.

I'd argue the exact opposite is true today.
Any contribution, however small, by a black person in history is blown so out of proportion it's ridiculous.
Hell, George Washington Carver gets credit for inventing peanut butter, despite the fact that's it's just mashed up peanuts and invented centuries before.

If someone with anything over a slight tan invented some widget that made some already existing invention work marginally better, they are credited with completely inventing that thing, and it is pointed out how the dumb whities was "livin' in caves" and in no way could have invented...I don't know, damn near all of modern science without the help of those super intelligent AFrican Americans to guide us.

I taught African American History at one point and the shite that is put into these kids heads nowadays is ridiculous.
They literally think that Africa was some advanced civilization while the Caucasoid and Semitic peoples were barely above eating their own shite.

Despite the fact that sub-Saharan Africa never invented the wheel. Or written language.

That "Hidden Figures" movie. The undertone was "see, you dumb honkies would never have made it to the moon without black knowledge."

Despite the fact that if they hadn't been there some other smart individuals would have. If anything it was Literal Nazis that got us to the moon. See Operation Paperclip.

I am in no way saying that black people haven't made meaningful contributions to our society. I'm saying the pendulum has swung too far in pretending that we would be nowhere without them. History has no color. Sometimes colored people played a big role. Sometimes they didn't. Let's not edit them out, but let's exaggerate their contributions either. Treat them equally and tell their stories truthfully.
