I mean they're not for me. I understand not liking Musicals is strictly an opinion.

What's a good one? Personally, I just don't like a bunch of singing in a movie.

There's a phenomenon that allows white women to overreact, thereby garnering some "look at me!" attention? Sounds like a license to print money.

The white female hive is unrivaled. Many become one. They look, talk and act just like each other.

Les Miserables is a good one. It's my wife's favorite.

We've seen it once already in Atlanta at The Fox in March '19. We are seeing it again in Birmingham in March.

She is literally stereotyped by Oz as bad because of her skin color. He uses her skin color to turn the people against her.

The movie paints this differently. She has a black sister who is an “acceptable color” so your point is thrown out the window almost immediately.

Wicked, as presented, is closer to based than woke.

Spoilers

Based Points:
1. The main villain is a woman
2. One of the main heroes is the prince
3. The government is the enemy and lacks true power
4. The government wants to spy on the people to keep control
5. The government keeps power by dividing the people
6. The government is evil for “canceling” those who speak out (animals)
7. Individualism is promoted
8. The black mom is presented as a scandalous whore while the white dad is the victim trying to cope

Woke points:
1. There is a gay background character that likes the prince
2. The main character is feared because of the color of her skin (though this point is earned in the story)

Not really a shocker to those of us that read your posts... Ha

Happy Thanksgiving, Bud.

I agree, entertain us. It's such a one-way street with the Poli statements.

I would probably enjoy musicals if it weren't for the gay, over-the-top theater kids that I'd be watching it with. I liked Jesus Christ Superstar

No he doesn’t, he tells people she created the flying monkeys because she refused to use dark magic because he couldn’t.

Had nothing to do with her color. In fact, nobody really cared she was green in the original play.

Massive amount of marketing for this movie. That's a key indicator that at best it's a bland cookie cutter type of experience or possibly a pile of crop.
The theme is chick centric so it's already a hard pass from me. Add in the black actress ranting about photoshopping the promo stills and who would want to support a screechy narcissistic Hollywood harpy.
Mainstream Hollywood and the lack of originality in many movies has lost me as a viewer of most new releases. I might catch a flick after release on Netflix or Prime but I lost any desire to rush out and spend money in a theater.

It’s more of a “shock” factor than “looked down on”.

Set designs are worth price of admission. Planting 9 million tulips to not have to cgi a bunch a crap. Cast is incredible live singing instead of a bunch of voice overs. Hate because you think it’s cool to do but this is a damn phenomenon.
