eta 1. putting my kids to sleep then I’ll reread your initial post and respond. it appears my reading comprehension was poor or your wording was misleading

eta 2: Nope. I'm not buying it.

You tried to reframe Charlie Kirk’s audience as only gullible, confused kids. That’s a backhanded slight. The implication is: Kirk only appealed to idiots, not logical adults like me. That’s an insult by any other name.

“he wasn’t necessarily trying to reach you,”

You're trying to pretend this is some kind of clarifying point. In reality, it’s a thinly veiled dig: Kirk’s work wasn’t relevant to serious thinkers. Again, a backhanded insult.

To summarize: All you actually did was dismiss Charlie’s impact and reduce his entire audience to a caricature. If you really believed what you’re saying, you’d be able to make the point without hiding behind cheap insults. But you couldn’t....which as I said, says more about you than it does about Charlie Kirk.

And FWIW - I apologize for calling you small and pathetic. But I do think you are disingenuous and a liar.

TBH I had never heard of him either. Some people at work were super sad and couldn’t feign as if I knew who they were talking about

I avoid the rot of media politics, though. That stuff is poison

If you aren't on social media, you are unlikely to know who he is.

I forgive you.

Are you a young libtard, tranny, queer, confused, college student? That was his target audience. If you’re an older, logical, self thinking adult who knows the difference between a woman and a man, he wasn’t necessarily trying to reach you.

And this bullshite, dismissive, condescending attitude is exactly why we as conservatives got our asses handed to us any time a Bill Clinton or Barack Obama came on the scene.

Charlie figured out what people like you fail to understand: Those college kids you're deriding....their vote counts exactly the same as yours and mine.

ETA - if you didn't mean your comments as insults, then you have my apology. It sure came off that way.

Had no clue who he was. My first thought was why are we lowering flags for this guy, but I guess he just wasn't on my radar. He was clearly a big deal to a lot of people, and I wish his family the best during this horrible time.

yeah but old people watch Fox News 24/7 and Kirk was definitely on there a lot.

That’s a more recent thing, like since the FBI raid on Mar A Lago. Tucker has said no one would have Charlie on except himself when he was at Fox, and that’s largely true. Jesse Waters picked up the baton but he was a decently rare guest on Fox until Trump ran for 2024.

If you honestly have never heard of this guy then yes you are living under a rock

I'm assuming you:

-have zero social media of any kind
-haven't watched the news in 4+ years
-did not follow any of the 2024 presidential election
-have zero interest in anything politics

Nah I get it. I’d only heard of him because it made news that he was coming to A&M. Had never heard of him before that, or after that…until this week obviously.

Anyone who follows politics with any reasonable diligence knew who he was - MAGA inner circle and led a Heritage-level conservative org targeting the most coveted demo for the future.

That said, silly to dunk on people who didn't know much about him. I certainly can't blame people for tuning out politics.

Suffice to say, millions more people know him and what he stood for now than they did last weekend. Which is poor consolation for a 3 year old girl who will never see her father again, but true all the same.

I took the time to read his post over again to ensure I hadn't jumped the gun.

And I edited my 2nd post to him as reply. He won't miss it.

but to summarize his bullshite: I’m totally not insulting Charlie Kirk… I just think only gullible, confused kids ever listened to him. And now that I'm being called out on it, I'm changing my tune and playing the victim.

I can agree with what he says (which from what I’ve gathered I generally would) and understand that other people will disagree with him vehemently. Not complicated.

I didn't forget about you Mingo. Just got busy with family issh. Hope you're having a good Friday afternoon. BUT....

I didn’t have any issue with your point quoted above. My issue is with how you framed it earlier in the Charlie Kirk assassination thread. The one nugget is referencing and you bringing up the "prove me wrong" banner. I get that you probably think this is pointless semantics and want to move on, but it isn’t.

You’re missing the entire point of what Charlie Kirk was actually about and what he was doing. His campus presence wasn’t about “feeding the machine of identity and inflammatory politics.” It was about engagement. The “prove me wrong” sign was an open invitation to civil debate at a table, on the same level, not a gimmick to stir chaos as your a suggesting.

He wasn’t screaming people down or hurling insults. He was sitting across from those who disagreed with him and giving them space to challenge his views. That’s not being a provocateur, that’s someone who actually believes in open discourse. And you know this.

Let’s be honest: neither you nor I would have the guts to sit there, state our beliefs, get shouted at for them, and then respond with calm, measured rebuttals. Over and over again, hundreds of times. Very few people on this planet do.

So if you’re going to call him a provocateur, show the evidence. Otherwise, admit what he really was: a man willing to debate anyone, anytime, without backing down. And it's also exactly why he was brutally murdered on Wednesday.

and don't you even come at me with that take a break from the internet shite.

eta:
3 downvotes and not a single reply?
I know it’s not Mingo downvoting, it’s a Leftist who can’t substantiate a valid rebuttal to what I’ve said.
