Different states have different laws, but I recall an attorney telling us we had to adjust our policy manual if we wanted to take a similar approach. Basically, if the manual does not say this, they have to pay it out.

If vacation time is accrued they have to pay it to you upon termination in Louisiana by law.

Don’t do anything unless you get a paycheck on 8/15. Then address it.

o, they don't pay out vacation. I had two weeks left on the books

That’s messed up, most places pay out vacation. There are different types of PTO and you may have asked the question wrong. You receiving 2 weeks pay when you had 2 weeks vacation is a pretty big coincidence. BUT, and I tell people that work for me all time, those first few weeks you work and feel like you don’t get paid eventually roll back around to your favor. You’re often a pay period behind and don’t realize it.

I would just sit tight but don’t go gamble that money this weekend.

Did you leave on good terms? If you did, call them now and make sure it’s all cleared up. No need to potentially burn bridges.

I’d still call even if you left on bad terms. No reason to give them an excuse to frick with you down the road.

This could be a reverse Milton situation from Office Space. They allowed him to stay around and quit paying him. They allowed you to go home and kept paying you.

I wouldn’t be surprised if your next check shows up as well.

What does the paid through date on the check say? Log into Dayforce or whatever system they use and look at the details.

Well looks like they do pay out vacation. Let us know if you get another check on the 15th.

When you say you had two weeks left did you have that much already accrued and unused or that much left in your normal annual allotted time? There’s a good chance those two things aren’t the same thing.

Normal allotted time.

not worth burning a bridge over, whatever the amount, unless op is approaching retirement age but still would be trashy to try and keep something that isn't his

I honestly have no idea. I didn't receive paper paystubs. I was suppose to receive electronic stubs but never did. I guess I worked for a clown show.

The rules when I was working (100 years ago) were if vacation is earned (You get none until you have worked a specified time period) they must pay you. IF you have vacation the first day, it is an unearned benefit and they don't have to pay it.

Of course. Roosevelt was president when those were the rules.

If in doubt, talk to the wage and hour people in your state government and they will know. May get complicated if you work in Kansas for a company with headquarters in Florida, or some such cross state deal.
