Absolutely nothing. I left a job in late October after the death of my brother. I had already used my allotted 240 hours (been there 12+ years)

salary is salary, its not based on hours worked to qualify.

if you still worked there 1 day of that month them yes you are owed and deserve that full months pay.

do you think they would ever pay you extra for all the times they got extra work from you beyond what was normally required? salary pay is designed to cheat you for working long hours without overtime pay

Guys.....I just got another full check. Assuming I earned the full check on July 15th, this is nearly $10k in unearned money.

I don't want to make this phone call. At what point is it worth the hassle of closing my bank account so they can't remove it? Going to bed last night wondering if I would get another one felt like Christmas.

Empty the account but keep open. Place the money in an investment account. Trade on it keeping the profits when they eventually ask for it back.

I know a guy I worked with who quit but kept getting paid for about a year after he left. He never told them anything. He recently received a certified email demanding well over $100k to be returned or legal action will be taken.

Funny thing is that the guy is highly educated and had a respectable position. He drank the corporate Kool aid as an employee. I think it is funny imagining the water cooler talk at the office amongst all the superiors he gave blowies to, and their dumbfounded belief that he could do such a thing. The guy was nice but a sensationalist and spread rumors and lies. The middle managers all fell for it

I can either end this today or keep it going for message board entertainment.

Create a paper trail by sending a registered letter to the company which states that you believe you have been overpaid, what you think the right amount is and that you are happy to refund any overpay if they give you a corrected pay statement with a repay amount within 30 days of receipt of this letter.

State also: "If you don't hear anything from you until (whatever date) I will assume that the payment is actually correct and will keep and spend the money".

If you are really paranoid, you can have this letter drafted by a lawyer, but that's probably overkill.

The letter clearly shows that you have demonstrated reasonable effort to remedy the situation and if the company doesn't act or respond it's their fault and there is nothing more you can do.

At least that's how I would handle it.

I talked to HR during my last week and specifically asked them about this and they told me no, they don't pay out vacation. I had two weeks left on the books. Maybe they took pity on my and paid it out anyway.

Paying out vacation is legally required.

Is one of them possibly the payout for your unused vacation time? Also, the stubs should have a work period on them.

Call them ask them for final stub. Say you just want to track for your records.

Wait for awkward call where they ask for it back.

Who ever does payroll is just slacking OP and forgot to remove you. It’s a basic mistake. They will likely figure it out and want it back.

I don’t know what’s so hard about making a simple phone call to your HR Dept.
