I don't want to make this phone call. At what point is it worth the hassle of closing my bank account so they can't remove it? Going to bed last night wondering if I would get another one felt like Christmas.

I would not get to happy about this.

Had a buddy who was working a lot of extra hours at a different location in the city from his regular job but with the same company. They were giving him a separate pay check for his extra work and paying him on his normal paycheck. So they were double paying him. One year went by and my buddy thought he was in the clear until he got a phone call saying you owe the company 60k. He claimed he did not know and already filed taxes. They said pay it back today or charges will be filed. So he paid it all back and was fired shortly after that.

When money is missing… workers will audit things and find the missing money.

Guys.....I just got another full check. Assuming I earned the full check on July 15th, this is nearly $10k in unearned money.

it's actually bad news that you got paid again. the best case scenario for you was that you wouldnt get another check, as it's the most likely way for them to not realize the mistake and simply think you still worked that one additional pay period or something.

now, you're "fricked" in that you are probably not keeping this money.

I talked to HR during my last week and specifically asked them about this and they told me no, they don't pay out vacation. I had two weeks left on the books. Maybe they took pity on my and paid it out anyway

They may not pay it out if you are employee and you don't use it in a given year, but if you are quit/fired they are required by law to pay out any vacation that you have ACCRUED YTD.
