It depends. How long has she worked for you?

What is her reason for retiring?

If she has been working for you for 25 years and she up and has to retire because of some personal issues then yes it makes you an a-hole.

If she has been working for you for 3 years, you don't really have a special relationship with her and she is retiring just because... Then no.

So, I don’t go to the office until the work day is almost over just so I can Make her work the whole day.

This just proves you are on an insecure power trip. Yes, it is a dick move. Why not thank her for her time, buy a cake and some daiquiris for the office and celebrate her leaving. Your good connection with people will take you much farther than the little high you got from being a dick.

And I bet she stuck around all day, because she didn't want to leave early because she was a good employee. I'm guessing employee morale is not super high around your office.

if she was a long term employee, doesn't excuse her shittiness of only giving a 3 day notice.

2 week notice is only for good companies/bosses.

If it's a shite company, or an a-hole for a boss, get your last paycheck and drag up.

No. Frick her. There’s no loyalty. Business is business. People do what’s good for themselves and so should you

Not an a-hole just stupid. I would have just had an assistant do that or given her the day. Why would I screw my off day up?

Your are so stupid and notices are only for employers. If you fired her would you give her a two week notice. I gave a notice before leaving my last job and some wimp like you tried to make me miserable for four weeks. I realized what was happening and left him many hurdles I'm sure he found months after I left.

Yeah, 2 weeks aren't owed to anyone.

I've walked without notice exactly once in my 20+ years working full time. The boss was reading too many magazines or blogs or something, and started implementing "best practices" instead of good ones.

That was just a bit more than 2 years ago, and that boss has been "self-employed" for the last 8 or 10 months of that. I tried to tell him...

I know it sounds really stupid and simple, but almost all workplace problems arise from poor communication.

If you have a boss that doesn't have time to listen to his or her employees, they will bitch to each other.

Three days notice is really short. Expecting her to work a full day is not outrageous. And it’s your day off. So, no. You didn’t do anything wrong other than seek our validation.

I don’t think she cares if she has to work one more full day. Hope she told you to go frick yourself on the way out too.

So he remotely spies on his employees all day. Interesting how he deleted this part from the OP.

Not only is he an a-hole, but he's also a piece of shite. No wonder the bitch retired on three days notice.

She gave you 18 years and you're a petty mf. If she's able to retire. Whether sick, old age, whatever you should be glad she gave you any notice. She's not leaving for another job she's retiring. Some people always have to feel like they win no matter what. This was what you did and it's sad.

You're def a brown eye.

You sound like the type of leader that receives three day notices.

She got paid to do nothing. You didn’t get paid to do something. You sure showed her.

Sincerely,

I have lots of keys.
