I agree with what you’re saying but let’s be honest, nobody should’ve invested in opening a business on or around Government St in the first place.

In the first 48-72 hrs which got more press coverage in the BR or regional press:

A) Koy Moore "harassment"
B) Allison Rice

If it's (A), then there is a real issue and, to me, a clear indicator that the press is agenda driven. And that agenda is not that of being the 4th estate.

This...this story doesn't fit "their" agenda.

Throw in (C) of Alton Sterling shooting and your choices of A, B, and C, and B goes WAY down to bottom of list.

Pretty much.

It was questionable enough when they did “White Light Nights” at Government and Jefferson, which only bordered the hood on one side (Government near Cloud St).

Developing shite at Westmoreland or further west was insane IMHO.

C helped get them SWB, which they see as a win. Despite her destroying the city since taking over.

shite, I'd be able to stomach my kids going to Bama if it keeps them out of this shithole.

I'm heavily trying to influence mine to go to A&M. I went there a semester before transferring to LSU, but after years of living in BR before moving to Texas, the campus is in such a bad spot there.

Once the hood takes over, no amount of development is going to push it out. You can ignore the problem but it’s not going to make it go away.

“Development” pushes them out if you buy the land out from under them then have strong security for anything opening there afterward.

Doesn’t really work well around here because there is land everywhere and it is typically cheaper to build in a new place than to redevelop old places which have gone bad.

Cities like New York and New Orleans which have had gentrification tended to do so because they were out of prime land to use for their purposes, given Manhattan is an island and NOLA is bordered by a major river and a fricking lake.

70 shots fired on Bluebonnet near the Mall a couple of months ago. Should businesses abandon Bluebonnet too?

This is straight up ridiculous. Efforts to redo downtown and Government Street were working. The crime encouraging policies in Baton Rouge from 2016 on have had a corrosive effect. By your standard of logic, LSU should simply shut down.

Difference is that the mall incident was a hit because they knew the guy was going to be there.

Government is basically a free fire zone because it is or was the borderline between areas of BR.

Which campus? LSU or you mean College Station?

Guy straight up murdered someone in TJ Ribs on South Acadian a few years back over a personal beef.

Is TJ Ribs now permanently scarred over it? Or was it a one off?

My point exactly. Who would want to invest ANYWHERE in EBR? Do your damn job, SWB. Hire a police chief who will crack down on crime to help grow your city!

She doesn’t want to grow it IMHO.

She wants a captive electorate to keep her and her cronies in power so that they can loot taxes.

A vibrant, successful area won’t vote for a fricking racist poverty pimp like her and won’t pay off the Council On Aging or other GOTV people for her.

The mall of Louisiana has been taken over and no respectable person goes there to shop anymore. Its full of sneaker stores, urban clothes stores and jewelry stores. The place is a frickin shithole!

Ok, I have not read this entire thread and don't know if this has been addressed but will add this detail here in case it has not been.

And then I will try to read all of the other pages to catch up.

I have a daughter enrolled in her Junior year LSU. She is involved in Greek life. She told us yesterday that they received something internally (not sure if it was campus police or school admin/sorority, etc...) stating that they now believe 'this may' be related to a gang initiation practice of some sort. I'm assuming getting a clean kill on a girl involved in Greek life or something similar as it was explained to me. The directives from the message she received instructed all girls involved in Greek life to remove any markings or stickers from their cars that would identify them as a campus student or member of any of the sororities.

Again, I have not seen it yet so I can't state who the information was sent from but as of yesterday evening my daughter said the paring garage was full of girls and their boyfriends stripping their cars of anything that would identify them as a sorority member.

That's all the information I have but I will read the other pages and update this once I see the information my daughter received firsthand

I seriously doubt it. 2 thugs saw a young white girl stuck by a train at 2am near the hood and thought she was an easy target and she resisted.
