Hahahahaha did you read the article you linked? The firm is moving TO San Francisco proper.

Nope, I didn't and I thought it linked to another prominent company leaving SV. I work in tech and have met several people in my current area that lived at one point in the San Fran Bay area. It's anecdotal but there are other stories of companies leaving that area.

I feel like this is less about California bashing and more about someone wanting some attention

Can I get a link to fact check this?

Yea, I am getting at least another 5 - 8 states with a larger economy than the SF Bay area just on a quick Google search.

Massachusetts
New Jersey
Pennsylvania
Virginia
North Carolina
Georgia
Ohio
Michigan
Washington

...all have a larger GDP than the SF Bay Area.

For the taxes they pay, there is no excuse to allow the homeless problem they have. That's ridiculous.

I mean come on. They have interactive maps for locating human feces in public areas. Their politicians should be removed and arrested for the antics they pull.

I think the map is a bit generous with what is considered the SF Bay area but they have a couple big hitters in that area like Apple, Google, Facebook, Oracle, Netflix, Cisco and Tesla that put them damn near above everyone besides Texas.

And yet they do not make anything themselves. Probably just their corporate headquarters while their product gets made overseas

Hahaha. Since then California’s economy has exploded and it now has a budget surplus.

Most of the surplus was due to the state using a higher projected rate of return on the pension program. With the loss of revenue from Covid and the drop in the stock market, CA is fricked in the near and long term. Gavin is fricking idiot for closing down the 5th largest economy in the world.

Oil and gas is being crushed in California and tech is moving out ever day and exponentially faster now with remote workers fleeing to idaho or lower cost suburbs in Cali.

Their tax system is fricked as well and unsustainable as money is leaving the state. California was given a chance to make changes to shift from income taxes to other more sustainable, but instead the upped the brackets.

I'm out in September and never coming back.

I mean, I love California. But being the closest port to Asia, which houses all of our manufacturing helps their economy. We need to diversity to central and South America to spread out the opportunity. That's what all of the protesting is about, right?

I dont know why Californians get so defensive that most of the rest of the country finds your state repulsive.

If its so great you have nothing to worry about. Your life is going great so ignore us.

Okay your point? San Francisco has a metro area of almost 5 million people and it home to many tech giants. Large population with a bunch of companies worth billions and that is what you have. San Francisco is still a shithole though.

SPOT ON

I have lived in CA a long time. It is a great place to live for the weather and the outdoors, but...YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE BIG BUCKS TO REALLY ENJOY IT!

- You have to put up with really really politically charged people.
- Everything is expensive.
- Pensions are breaking the bank (60% of people in CA work for the govt in some capacity)
- The Franchise Tax Board is horrible to deal with.
- Businesses were leaving in droves before Corona.
- Your kids will be taught Socialism by “proud and loud" Socialist Teachers.
- The Govt is bloated, heavy handed, and far reaching (they will reach into your bank account even if you move).
-They forced us to shut down for 5 months, PPP was a bandaid, we are now (as of yesterday) Offically closing the offices down for good.

All these know nothings talking about shite on the streets have never been here. In reality this region shits on the South, in every way they really matters.

I spend about 30 nights a year in San Francisco. I go everywhere from the worst to the best neighborhoods. I have never stepped in, around, or over shite in the street or sidewalk. I do occasionally see folks shooting up.

San Francisco has its warts but it is an incredible city.
