Why the hell can't the SanFran Bay Area rid the city of the feces infestation and the plague of homeless if they have such a large economy?

SanFran is a fricking septic tank and the local government refuses to do anything about it.

I don’t see half the trash and piles of shite, dirty needles, saw in the streets while living in the south (Nola) and I walk the street in SF daily.

How is a larger economy something I should be praising? Sounds like some corporate shill.

This is not even close to being true. It’s like you’re parroting a line from a movie not based in any real fact. You think Cali’s economy is only tech? It has one of the most diversified economies in world. From tech, to biotech/medical, media, film, the largest agricultural economy in the country, largest shopping economy on and on.

I’m in California and know people in finance and venture capital. The explosion of tech companies has lead to a massive amount of venture capital in the Bay Area.

The items you speak of are in part of easy capital and population shifts over the last 30 years.

California has over spent and over taxed everything. This budget deficit is going to be massive and crushing for California for a long time. This governor has way too much ambition and is going to crash and burn like Icarus before he’s done with the leftist bullshite pandering.

I'm a native Cali and can talk shite all I wish. The politics has made it almost unbearable. It has been ruined due to poor management by Sacramento and city/county leaders. Having a big economy doesn't mean shite.

People are still leaving and the government is still allowing the influx of illegal immigrants and now openly paying for them with resident's tax dollars (not new, but now publicly stating with boldness).

California is losing businesses more and more each year. The unfortunate part about that is some of the voters who made Cali a shite hole are now going to spread their stupidity.

California is one of the most beautiful states, but like a hot chick with a really shitty personality you get tired of the bullshite and look for something elsewhere.

The question is how far does your dollar go? If you triple your income but the costs go up more, you aren’t really increasing the real value of your worth. It’s all funny money. Just look at housing.

Interesting take, because from what I’ve heard from friends that went there to work you better not speak your mind in the wrong company if it differs from the proggie paradigm.

Housing is expensive but when you make a lot more, it's more relative. My rent is about half of one paycheck.

Gas is more expensive, but I drive less. The jobs are closer. A tank of gas last a whole week rather than ten days.

Car insurance is cheaper here than in Louisiana.

Food is no more expensive if you know how to be frugal and are a smart shopper. Eating out can be pricey, but if you cook and eat at home, it's not worse than Louisiana. Meat is mostly cheaper here than at the average store in Louisiana where I live around Baton Rouge. I got 3 beautiful bone in New York Strips for $6.99 a pound at Lucky Supermarket on Sunday, and just about eveything else I buy I can find on sale there or at Safeway. The quality of produce is unmatched anywhere else in the country. There is nothing comparable to the produce sections here back in Louisiana.

I hear all kinds of opinions all day long. They're just not as massively backwards as most of the south.

People here don't care what you're into for the most part. They're doing their thing, you do you. People in the south are supposed to be so nice, but it's a fake nice. They are talking about you as soon as your back is turned.

I don't think you understand the fact that when you make more the relative cost isn't so dear. I spend about half of one week's pay on rent. That's not a big deal.

On top of what I make on my check, the contractors pay $20.90 an hour into the retirement. That's over $800 bucks a week into an annuity on 40 hours (or over 3 to 1 on the pension back in Louisiana), on top of the $71.52 an hour we get on the check (automatic double time on Saturday and Sunday), and on top of the contractor paying the full cost of our health insurance.
