Then let's deal with trying to renew a driver's license in both places. Dear God. The hours wasted standing in line at the 'faster' station in NOLA. The five minutes in a faster station in Houston.

Louisiana now has an OMV appointment system, and they print your license on the spot. Whole process took me half an hour to walk in and walk out with a new license.

But it gets demonized on this board

When you realize that Baton Rouge has a massive inferiority complex in relation to anything New Orleans, this boards obsession will make a lot more sense to you.

bruh. the city is 90% crack dens already

NOLA's hate and current socio-economic problem is 100% the result of an incompetent Mayor, liberal appointed/elected officials, and a Judicial system that refuses to hold criminals accountable. Uneducated people living off the Government don't want change and will continue to vote for the same idiots. Same can be said for criminals and thugs who get away with robbing, stealing, and murder on a daily basis. Inner-city Detroit, Chicago, DC, Jackson, ATL, HOU, etc ... is no different than NOLA. Until there's change at the top, shite will continue to run downhill. Everything about NOLA politics needs a serious purging as I don't see it happening.

NOLA is currently dominated by corrupt leadership and criminal activity.

Indulge at your own peril.

I didn’t read past the second sentence and I immediately scrolled down and downvoted.

What an idiot.

rise of great restaurants in Miami, Charleston, Austin, New York etc

I’m a NOLA and New York restaurant truther, but I put Miami’s food scene on par with anywhere in the world. I have had some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life in multiple restaurants in Miami and surprisingly the best Chinese food I have ever had was at a restaurant in Miami as well.

Houston does have a good food scene but I don't think they have surpassed NOLA yet.

Real estate in new Orleans completely baffles me

Even with its problems, many people with money actually want to live in New Orleans. That plus its small footprint keeps real estate prices high.

No one actually wants to live in Houston. They move there for jobs, which is fine. But if you can live just about anywhere, you don't typically choose Houston.

There are other cities besides just NOLA and Houston. Both suck but NOLA is just a horrible place all around. Any chance it once held died a long time ago.

I heard two residents talking about a carjacking. Instead of getting mad that the law and justice system isn’t doing more to stop this they were lamenting how the person should have been paying attention better.

The residents are shell shocked and in denial. It’s absolutely warranted

Look at the crime, rotten streets, corruption, and “I don’t care” attitude of NOLA compared to Houston.

Did you ever wonder why Houston is continually growing and why NO is way past its prime?

Can it be Houston provides a better economy, government and way of life?
Naaaa, it’s because NO is better. Riiiiight.
