Having lost quite a few myself including parents and 4 siblings all in the last 4 years and spending many days and nights in Mary Bird and MD Anderson I can assure you that would not be appreciated nor accepted and quite frankly the majority of people I have been around would make you pick your teeth up after comments like that.

We were at a taping last week in California. No one knew anything about this. They have episodes taped through the end of April. That may be where it stops. Terrible news.
I remember watching the show with Art Fleming when I was very young. My mother watched every day. We had a small (maybe 12 inch) black and white TV with rabbit ears and a hoop antenna on top.

It appears different people certainly cope in different ways, and I'm not sure it's fair to tell someone else how they can/can't deal with it. It would probably be easier to come to the understanding that everyone deals with death differently and not let someone else's coping mechanism make you fighting mad.

That's because it's one of those "You have 365 days left. Use them wisely." types of cancer. Even if you get lucky and the doctors somehow stumble across it while it's just started and still isolated in your pancreas, you've still got a 60-70% chance of being dead in 5 years.

Different people have different ways of dealing with their own mortality. My mother laughed and joked constantly about her illness as she lay in a hospital bed waiting to die. She wanted those around to laugh, she said I would rather be the brunt of a joke, and die surrounded by laughter than by sadness.

I’ve got as much of a sense of humor as anyone and frankly don’t give a shite but if he thinks it will make the cancer ward roar with laughter he is wrong and having been around dozens of families he wouldn’t last.

Those properties are worth WAY too much money to fold up when a host dies or retires.

You are right Corky. I would never make any kind of joke while I am in the chemo room with my wife. This is because everybody there is at different stages in their treatment and acceptance of the hand that has been dealt. Some would not care. Some would be crushed. I don't know where they are in their journey and would not take that chance.
On a light-hearted message board I will. At home I will. It's a fine line that I have to walk with the knowledge that I have no right to mess up someone else's day.

I kinda like that part of the show. That way when they smugly question some obscure answer about 15th century French goat buggery, I can think to myself 'self, you might not know anything about 15th century French goat buggery, but at least you aren't as fricking awkward as that guy'.

This is very sad and scary. I'm sorry for your losses. I can't even imagine having a family ravaged by cancer like that.

I see a lot of smartazz replies that on the surface seem cute. You guys must be young. Just remember some of you or your mothers and fathers or siblings or best friends will get cancer. Some may get pancreatic cancer. Please post when it happens so we can make fun of you.
