Normal people can’t have tint because it might scare cops who pull them over.
Cops can have tint because they’re scared normal people might see them.
Unreal.

I guess no one in this thread has read the LA law? It exempts all elected officials and all law enforcement. I applied for an exemption because I carry tens of thousands of dollars of medical equipment in my SUV. Denied. But the elected dog catcher gets an exemption.

Tint laws in Alabama are one of those things they will tack on to other charges. No one is getting pulled over for illegal tint. We had it on an old Honda when our daughter was a baby. Rear facing infant carseat, with a back window that was clear as day. We had the whole car done except the windshield, and the guy at the shop offered to go darker on the back if we wanted it. My wife hated it at first, said it looked thuggish, but after about a week she got used to it, and liked how the car wasn't as hot when she was leaving work after it sitting in the sun all day.

More like cops want bullshite reasons to pull people so they can search their cars for weed

Oh of course that’s the reason, but they justify it in the name of “officer safety” just like they do other limitations on non-cops.

I find that hard to believe.
Years ago my 60 year old mother (at that time) got pulled over for dark tint in dad's CTS-V. And got a fix it ticket.
Apparently the cop was surprised it was an older lady driving it. (It was less than a year old at the time)
Cops will use whatever they wish to have a reason to stop someone. Including tint.

Good!
Makes the bastards easy to spot.

Special exceptions drawn-out in the law specifically for government employees is about the most unAmerican thing one could conjure up.
Government officials should never be allowed to play by a different set of rules than the public they serve.

Why would any cop want to make his home within his jurisdiction? Doesn’t seem smart

Guess who will be allowed to keep their privately owned guns if/when that comes around.

Gov. Kay Ivey this week signed HB332, legislation that makes an exemption in the Alabama window-tinting law for current and retired federal, state and local law enforcement. The change takes effect in August.
Rep. Connie Rowe, R-Jasper, a former police chief, sponsored the legislation. She said the purpose is to help protect the privacy of current and former law enforcement officers and their families. She said allowing them to have darker window tint could make them less identifiable or recognizable while off duty to people they have encountered in dangerous or tense cases on the job.

I’ve been in Alabama for a couple years with dark tint on my front windows. I think I have 15% and not been pulled over yet and they didn’t say a thing during the inspection

Cops are about as mentally weak as the SJW's.

Don't care one way or the other but I'm sure we have more important things to worry about.

What a waste of legislative time.
It’s not like Cops were getting tint tickets anyway, if they get stopped they flash that badge and are on their merry way.
