Importantly, he’s still on the run. He fled on foot after the wreck. Given where the crash was, it would have been hard to remain on foot without being seen, so I bet someone picked him up.

The media is indeed a lot to be blamed.
The voice that the general public always hears is that it's wrong to arrest people, leniency is encouraged, and no one should be privileged.
If, and when this thug is caught, even in Alabama, he probably won't face charges any worse he already had coming.
If it happened it California, they'd offer him a driving course, give him a new car to replace his wrecked one, and set him on his way, all while the media glorifies his life struggles and blames the mother for not staying at home with her mask on instead of being out driving around to some white privileged school or business.

Latoya does not allow NOPD to pursue suspects if they run. Ask NOLA residents how well that is going. You have to chase these criminals or it’s completely lawless.
