When Trump said he was going to sell some F-35s to that Muslim country that signed that peace and economic agreement with Israel the first thing that came to mind was the United State has a new aircraft that’s made the F-35 obsolete. Trump said last night in Wisconsin that allocating a couple of trillion bucks to the military has brought on some weapons that are way beyond what people can imagine.

I think the export models are significantly inferior to what we use. Shittier (cheaper) engines and electronics and such.

Are we that far ahead of the competition, or are they just better at keeping secrets?
remember when we used that stealth chopper to send bin laden to hell and the international community lost its shite cause it had no idea we had that capability?

i feel pretty confident that we have A LOT of stuff that no one has and even in instances where there is parity, say the new russian and chinese fighters, we are so far ahead of them when it comes to actually being able to use these machines

Our state-of-the-art strategic bomber, the B2, started development in 1979 and has been in service since 1993.

And we are already designing a “newer” B2 bomber. The B21 raider. We won’t have as many, but we are upgrading everything. Even new replacement ballistic missile subs to take over for our aging Ohio’s.

And I doubt there's can actually perform even when they are operational.

I'd be confident in the F15 and 18 to kick everyone's arse today and they're both old as shite.

well to be fair they probably just added a cup holder and cruise control to the F14 tomcats and renamed it as the F15 EX

Starting a thread about this with no pics is about as bad as if you started a babe thread with only the warning.

Pretty high expectations there - I don't think James Bond posts on this board.

He DID post a picture.

That's how stealthy it is.

This really hasn't been true for decades. Jimmy Carter tried restricting the F-16 to old tech for non-NATO buyers (the F-16/79 had an old GE J79 turbojet shoehorned in instead of the F100 turbofan), but in the end, those buyers said "give us the full monty or we buy Mirage 2000's from France", and that was that.

The F-35 simply would not work without it's designed components, including the F135 engine and the whole electronics suite. It essentially IS a computer with an airplane fuselage glued on.

If a frontline aircraft has integrated tech that we don't want non-allied buyers to have, then we simply refuse to sell it. The F-22 and A-10 were banned from ALL foreign sales... NATO and Japan included... because we didn't want to sell the sensor and gun tech. Meanwhile, we sold F-15's hand over fist to both the Israelis and Saudis.

All the other jets will make fun of it in the hangar for those little white stubby wings.

I’m in agreement. They will be getting the roll up window, no radio or cruise control model. My analogy to a no frills bare bone car.

That’s kind of my point, though.. the B-21 isn’t expected to enter service until 2025. B-2 tech was designed from 1979-1993. A 32 year gap between the B-2 and the B-21 seems like a lot to me, especially given how quickly technology changes nowadays.

To put it into perspective, the B-17 was introduced in 1938. The B-29 was introduced in 1944, the B-52 was introduced in 1955. That’s only 17 years for two generations of heavy bombers, compared to 32 years for one generation now. I guess it’s probably a combination of war economy and rapid advances in aircraft back then.

Not saying the guys at the Pentagon don’t know what they’re doing - just that the amount of time always surprises me.

If the 15's we exported were the loaded model than I've been misinformed.
