This follows trends where I work. Where initial reaction was to show hiring, but as AI adoption increased. Large efficiency gains have not materialized even with now seemingly large spend. Company knows that the technical debt of not hiring would long term handicap the business. Senior level electrical and software engineers are demanding higher salaries. Junior software engineers are now back in high demand after about a year of little job growth

AI ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. It makes some things a little bit easier but you still have to check its work.
I have to transcribe videos sometimes at work, the “AI” can give you a quick transcription, but it’s littered with errors so I still have to go line by line and correct them.
It’s faster than transcribing it from scratch but it’s really just a time saver, not a replacement for a real human.

Celebrating how AI didn't "take over" when AI models are basically still in their embryonic stage is ridiculously foolish.
There's an infamous article Newsweek published in 1995 declaring how overhyped this whole "internet" thing was.

What I've noticed is that AI generated code generates fewer CodeQL and Secrets alerts in GitHub than human generated code does.
As far as impact on college grads, most of them never read a full book in high school, and probably only a few, if any, in university, so they're just as dumb as ever.

That’s because despite what people are shoving into your brain, AI is currently not any better than a language aggregator.
It cannot problem solve. It has no sense of when a gray area exists. It has no sense of judgement.
There will be people ITT that disagree. They are wrong.
I really hope it improves. I want it to improve so badly. It’s fricking trash right now. Even work applications at a very very large global company are horrible.
