Really never cared for MLB, NBA, or NFL.
Professional sports just reeked of entitled players who aren’t playing hard and have lost the love of the game.
That may not be true, it just felt that way to me.

Always cared way more for CFB.
Used to stay up and watch all the games just in hopes for an upset that helped LSU somehow.

Now with the changes to CFB, the sport feels very much like the NFL. The players look less invested and they are all paid handsomely now.

College baseball is still fun, but money is making its way into that sport as well and it will soon go the way of CFB.

It’s pretty normal to not care about sports all that much as you get older. Older people who still freak out over wins and losses are pretty much losers

People forget, but wasn’t Quinn Ewers the one that skipped his senior year of high school so he could start getting NIL money from Ohio State, went there one year, then transferred to Texas?

I could see this becoming a trend in high school.

I’m the same. I’m 50 and am at the point where I don’t always watch my favorite teams. But I keep up with the scores and occasionally sit to watch a game.
I used to follow everything NCAAF and NFL related. Now it’s just not that important

Same here. I used to live and breathe football and gambling on it. I dont even know who the Saints are playing most weeks and havents seen an entire LSU game yet this year. I never re-gained interest after the COVID year.

And why not? High school is a huge waste of time for people like this. Start making money as soon as you can.

I am 52 ...

NFL - hardly ever watch, maybe a few playoff games

NBA - hardly ever watch, very little interest

MLB - hardly ever watch, but keep up with Red Sox

College Football - still watch a good bit, especially SEC games and playoffs

College Baseball - love to listen to LSU Baseball on the radio in the springtime

Tennis - love to watch the grand slam tournaments

Golf - love to watch the major tournaments

Soccer - starting to watch more and more, especially Premier League, now that my son (15) plays a lot of soccer. It's amazing to me the passion the British fans have for soccer.

I contend the nfl is more enjoyable with a healthy and pure amateur college game. As this thing has unfolded, the leagues are competing with each other now and the flaws of each are magnified..

CFB (power 5 or whatever) is overhyped nonsense. Maybe it always was but it’s terrible to me now. Is any product requisite of so much hype really worth a shite?

I watched ULL or similar play a midweek game a few weeks ago and it was much better watching that than all the NIL showboating nonsense from LSU and the bigger schools.

Literally bread and circuses ouchea.

I will agree the NFL is much more enjoyable than college for the sole reason they start the game on time and typically doesn’t extend much past the 3 hour norm.

With health, diets, and science perfected, I still can’t get over the injuries tho. 10 carries for a RB is considered a work load now and they still get hurt.

You forgot the dumbest mf’n commentators and announcers on the planet for a couple of those sports make them even more unbearable.

college football - Joe Tessitore

NBA - Kendrick Perkins

Getting older is part of it but sports are no where near as good as they used to be.

What If lsu football was in a dominant streak like saban had at BAMA? Would you all be happy to watch CFB? Be honest you wouldn’t give a he’ll about portal and nil if lsu was #1 every week

Something happened over the last few years that makes me not very interested in the NFL anymore. I can't even pinpoint what it is.

If you're old, you probably should already have done this until you are so old that you'll just fall asleep 30 minutes into anything you watch

kids could care less about the town or school they play for

This really applies to all players/sports. Of course they want to win, but at the end of the day very few of them actually do care; especially when it comes to the rivalries. Sure, they will say all the right things in public, but it's just another game/check

I also think sports are better when we can relate to the athlete. In our childhood, players had loyalty to teams (or so it seemed), college stars played for the name on the front of the jersey, etc.

Honestly, I’ll probably be watching a good amount of the FCS playoffs for that reason.

My childhood stars growing up were guys like Tim Duncan, Troy Aikman, Manu Ginobili, Jim Thome, and several others. Thankfully, they have all turned out to be decent dudes, but they also gave off the vibe of being loyal, hard-working, non-red carpet dudes. IMO sports needs more of them, and less of the Hollywood types.

Exactly.
If these equity pushers really wanted the world to have equity, no team should be awarded a win and no team awarded a loss. Just play for an alloted amount of time, then call it a draw and everyone goes home.

As we get older, most of us get wiser. We should care less about sports. We don't hardly even remember last years winner of it all in any sport. It's just a pleasant diversion unless there are more important things in life happening. Lot of things become more important as you age, if you are getting wiser and not just older.

Am I just getting older and burnt out on sports or is the state of the games just overall bad now?

NBA - load management, stars hardly ever play or play hard, bright colored pained courts. Used to love the Rockets but can’t make it through a game anymore.

College Football - unbearable. 4-5 hour broadcast, transfers, kids could care less about the town or school they play for, playoff system, etc.

NFL - stoppages after every play for review, players come out after a big play to ‘rest’, injury riddled teams

MLB - overall better with the pitch clock, but still markets to nobody. Playoff games at 1pm on weekdays, etc.

Am I just an old fart or is anyone else on the verge of moving their life on from sports?

I am the complete opposite. I'm 64 and this is the absolute best season of college football in my lifetime, except for the fact that Oklahoma sucks.

I also love the NFL and Premier League.

NBA - I follow the Thunder, and they are in the hunt for the championship.

Maybe you need to look into some anti-depressants.

Sorry bro. Happiness is a choice. You are choosing to think everything sucks

This right here. I'm watching and enjoying more sports than I have in a long time.

I run. I play golf. I have a hot wife. I'll be retiring in a couple of year. Life could not be better.

I can't stand whiners. You make your own happiness.
