I'm an OT baller. I'm not worrying about the cost of groceries.

Are yall trying to say that the cheapest chicken available at Wal mart is the exact same quality as the free range organic (insert more flashy words here) chicken at whole foods? It's just in a different package

Yes. Chicken farms have a contract with the few companies that sell chicken meat. Organic chicken? Seriously, as soon as the egg is hatched it's organic. I don't care if it's 100 chickens in a 10x10 cage or free roam, you won't know the difference at the store. I raise my own chickens and I guarantee you can't taste the difference between organic eggs at whole foods, regular eggs at Wal mart or my eggs. I do it because I like to and chickens are dirt cheap to raise. I get a little better quality meat wise, but Tyson and Sanderson farms is the same thing. Organic. Whole Foods is an over priced Wal Mart grocer stores.

I shop all over including Whole Foods. They have the cheapest milk in town and always have.

Not really a loss. I like Fresh Market and local purveyors better. Plus, the people that work at Whole Foods suck.

I live and work in the Energy Corridor and have friends in Sugar Land. Spend most of my time in those areas and HEBs are nice. I go to other areas sometimes but I guess I don't pay attention to the old arse HEBs. Pardon me.

If Harry Butt himself is reading this thread he will probably give you a free orange plate special next time at your local store, congrats

I know that argumemt. I've raised thousands of chickens and other birds (turkey, quail, etc). I know all the fancy terms are generally bullshite and people fall for it all the time.

People might not be paying more for taste but they're definitely paying more for how the animal got there.

I'd accept it with pride. I judge a company by the services I receive. Not by the services provided to other people in other areas of town.

ding.

people don't understand things like "free range", "cage free", and "antibiotic free" simply have to meet requirements.

free range means they have to be outside of a confined area for something like 5 or 15 minutes a day

cage free means they cannot be in a 10x10 cage, but they end up being shoved into a huge warehouse where they cant move either way

antibiotic free just means by the time they get killed, there has to be less than 'x' amount of antibiotic when they measure levels.

If they are overpaying then they just don't know how to shop. I can go through any grocery store and know the correct price of most all items that I am buying and I can do just as well at Whole Foods as I can at Calvins or Rouses.

The Sprouts by me sux. The seafood borders on rancid and the overall selection for any product is not what WFs is. The only competition for WFs is Central Market.

They all sell the same exact brands. The difference is the grade of meat they offer. Select, choice, or prime is the difference. By the way buying beef st Walmart is not cheap. You can normally get it cheaper at a local meat market that is a better grade and fresher.
