I eat "health food," but I don't shop at Whole Foods unless there's no other option.
There is one an easy drive from my house, but instead I alternate among our local farmers market (it's huge with meat, beer/wine, dairy, etc--cheap: an avocado is .59), Wal-mart (yep, they have a set of staples I buy and this particular location is very pleasant; also cheap), Costco, Sprouts, and Earth Fare (only what's on sale--it's within walking distance so easy to go often). I actually enjoy the milfy Whole Foods experience, but it's just such a rip-off on most items.
eta: trader joe's occasionally for various things: raw Brazil nuts (magnesium and selenium be important), pickles (hard to find good ones without shite added for as cheap as they have them), low-carb tortillas.

By the way buying beef at Walmart is not cheap
they have uncured bacon cheaper than most places (I usually get it at my farmers market though because it's better and about the same price) and the one by me always has chuck-eyes, which are hard to find. 2 thick steaks for $5-$8, and they're freaking good if you know how to cook them.

Worth the high prices.

For those talking shite about it, their meat and fish selection is by far the best in Baton Rouge, Awesome salad bar, awesome sandwiches.

Only reason I go there is to get some Sumo Oranges.

I'm sorry but this post is asinine.
You can definitely taste the difference between eggs you take from the coop yourself and store bought eggs.

You people need Central Market, the GOAT.
Whole Foods can eat one.

as someone who is married to a person with Celiac, your post just oozes a lack of understanding how badly that allergy can be.
my wife has it bad enough that simply touching breadcrumbs causes her to have a breakout, and to simply eat 1/16th of a teaspoon of anything with Gluten, is enough to give her food poisoning symptoms for several days.

The problem is the legit celiac thing somehow turned into a health craze for everyone else. Now, my Tito's vodka bottle reads: "gluten free."

oh I agree - now I personally do not have Celiac, but i tend to eat gluten free because the wife has to, and ti makes you feel noticeably better, however the fad thing is silly.
for someone with Celiac, it is a must live. shite - when you have that bad, you have to make sure you use soaps, shampoos and everything else that is gluten free - and you'd be surprised how many products have gluten in them.

Gluten free vodka, a must in my household.
You can make vodka from many foods. Why not help customers know your brand is safe to serve at a party or for the wife.

I don't shop their often but the first time I ate food from there (without knowledge of it being from there) I seriously could tell it was a better quality chicken and sweet potato. Asked the lady where she got the stuff from and her answer was WF.

damn...Shreveport's WF just opened after being in construction for like 2 years
hopefully it doesn't close as I do like shopping there
no idea why people pay WF prices for meats though, if you are going to pay that much for meat, buy from a local farmer where you know where the meat is coming from
I only buy produce, beer, cheese, etc from WF

and people who eat egg whites only are sorely misguided. All the good stuff is in the yolk!

Amen, this is why so many people are deficient in choline.
