City of NOLA, instead of getting the people who are hired by the S&WB to do what they are supposed to do (clean out the catch basins), they are training folks to lead their neighborhoods on how to clean them out.

I'm all for taking a proactive stance when flooding is concerned, but how about they just do their job???

Will the good people of New Orleans who clean out their own catch basins get some of their tax money back?

Don't be ridiculous. Do the good people of NO who have to purchase and operate a functioning crime camera system for NOPD get a tax break?

Sounds like you'd need biohazard training.

A catch basin is pretty much a cement ditch?

A catch basin is a concrete drainage structure used for collecting runoff and connecting storm drain pipes.

I was under the impression that a catch basin was used to catch trash that went into the street drains, so it didn't go into piping system. They were designed to need periodic cleaning

Adopt-a-trash route, adopt-a-pot-hole, adopt-a-non-functioning pump, adopt-a-pump that flows backwards.

NOLA is a beacon on a hill.

Makes sense. Keep the money for S&SWB but tell the Taxpayers "Here we'll show you how to do it".

They do need periodic maintenance/cleaning. But no, catch basins are for collecting rainwater from the roadway and transporting it via subsurface pipes to an outfall.

I could buy into this is they were laying off the headcount that is already maintained for this job and reduce taxes accordingly.

How many hipsters own vac trucks, you can clean the catch basin all you want, but if you don't clean out the subsurface drainage line it's pointless.. Besides shouldn't the go talk to the guys who have been getting paid since Katrina to do this. Oh and are getting paid watching this two numb nuts do it now...
