This is the reason I left social media 10+ years ago. With the exception of TD obviously, because TD makes me feel better about myself when 95% of yall are retards.

The hate everyone has on Twitter.

How would you even know this unless you’re spending a lot of time scrolling on social media?

I haven't met a single social media addict that is a happy person.

My wife went through a Facebook phase in which it was like she was separated from reality. I made her a deal...I gave up a 10 year drinking habit (legit alcoholic) and she had to delete youtwitface. I belive she had a harder time quitting. It's a lot like a gambling addiction. They even design all the facebook feedback noises to stimulate like a slot machine.

Our quality of life is like it use to be...back before everyone stared at phones all day like zombies. Tigerdroppings is my only online vice. I get 90 percent of my news here. Thank all you bastards for bringing better news than mainstream media

Also, Twitter and Reddit NSFW pages add to other addictions.

Tell your loved ones to take a break. It truly will make you happier and change your life for the better. No need to compare yourself to someone else’s life. No need to consume so much information that doesn’t affect you, focus on your family and being the best version of you.

stop worrying about what other people do with their time and money and turn off the news and you will be much happier.

What about all the young male losers addicted to 24/7 online gaming?

Many still living at home with momma to wipe their Asses.

Agree 100%.

It’s crazy how it just took over like a widespread virus. That mixed with Covid really fricked things up

More and more I find myself guilty as well. Seems every family gathering after a few minutes of visiting everyone is glued to their phone. The wife spends more time staring at her phone than looking at anyone in the house. Social media and smart phones are a net negative on society.

I had to sign out of Twitter bc it was making me irrationally angry. Probably because I have a bad habit of checking the comments. People hate just to hate.

I need to do a dopamine reset

I'm not the most morally sound or religious person, but I don't think smart phones/social media, online gaming, online gambling, weed stores every block (alcohol is a major problem, too), proliferation of certain prescription meds, and porn at your fingertips adds up to a healthy society.

How did NIL not solve that for you?

The idiots that are far right and far left that stay with that BS political crap on social media is sad.

Basing thought and ideas off Fox News or cnbc or whatever they watch. Not having a clue that most of that crap is BS to begin with and just worded for likes, shares, and comments.

As sad as it is seeing a kid addicted to social media and their devices, seeing older family members become obsessed is really hard to watch. Especially family you've previously seen live happy and technology disconnected lives.

There's a lot of moms and grandma's out there that just doom scroll hour after hour, day after day.

Twitter has gotten much worse since Musk changed up the monetization structure. Now it pays people to make rage-bait content. There's a whole subset of pond scum who make a living keeping everyone riled up with half or completely untrue information.

It ain't just teens. My wife’s friend had to settle some estate business for her late parent, so she asked my wife to go up north for a few days with her to help her out. Wife gets back and tells me “I love her, but damn, she spends every available moment on TikTok”. Some people are constantly glued to their phone.

There is definitely a profile for the middle aged male that is obsessed with SM. Mentally lonely and sad.
