Holy crap. Be careful trusting your Dermatologist to write prescriptions. Just got a bill for $1,200 (for 30 pills) for a prescription of Solodyn.

Internet search appears that I could have gotten Minocyclin (have to take twice a day instead of once) for frigin $20!

Tell your kid to stop jerking off and touching his face.

Screw that doctor. He or she should have made that clear upfront.

I don't know anything about the pills, but I know Dermatologist make bank. If I were ever going to be a doctor, it would be a Dermatologist. No emergency calls... You got to deal with people's nasty rashes and pizza looking faces, but them bastards pull in the paper.

And for 30 pills to cost $1200.. $40 a pill.. Is highway robbery,

Gotta be really careful with meds. doctors prescribe them without regard to cost. I have a relative with psoriasis...Doctor regularly prescribes some type of new product. That is great until you get to the pharmacy to find out that a small tube of ointment costs several hundred bucks out of pocket. Nothing sadder than seeing an elderly person have to walk out without meds because they can't afford to pay....and if you ask any pharmacist, they will tell you that they see it every day.

you have a terrible pharmacist!!

i would have told you what your internet search revealed, while at the pharmacy, then contacted the doctor, telling them that it's hella expensive, and you ain't paying that shite... i would have given the recommendation of generic Minocycline, which is far cheaper, the same medication, and essentially, just as convenient for therapeutic compliance...

Doctors typically don't know what prescriptions cost.

You aren’t obligated to accept the script just because it’s filled, just walk away

I got a sister-in-law on some heavy duty antibiotic pills presently. 62 pills - $3,200. Her cost was 60 bucks.

Accutane’s side effects are a problem. Suicide attempts are linked to using it.

true... but good health care professionals want good outcomes for their patients... so, if you can't afford the latest, greatest medication, then i damn sure would make sure to give the patient and physician other options that may be just as effective at a lower cost, to ensure the patient does get their medication, as intended, to achieve their therapeutic outcome...

The Walmart goodRx price for 30 tabs Solodyn is $189. Doing your internet research before picking up Rx would have saved you $1000.
Regardless I would still prefer 2 minocycline a day for $20 unless there is something else I am missing.

How could you not know the bill before receiving the pills? This seems like your fault for not looking at things. If you did get worked over, submit a complaint on one of those online sites and pay an attorney $200 to send a nasty gram. You'll probably get your money back from the doctor. But again, it sounds like you fell asleep at the wheel. How could you not know what this would cost?

This is why our health care costs so damn much. People have no information on what things cost. And if insurance pays for it then we are all collectively paying for it.

Doxycycline is all your kid needs

Eta my daughters dermatologist prescribed Targadox which is some special form of doxycycline that can be taken with or without food. It doesn’t cause nausea.
