It’s amazing the amount of people around here that whine about how minorities, especially blacks, get all the breaks.

If a HISTORICALLY BLACK College or University is getting a discount, then it is effectively a racial discount given enrollment and employment at these schools.
If any other discount were given that disproportionately shorted some minorities, whining would ensue about disparate impact.

I took some summer classes at Southern. The biggest mistake was taking History 2003. We skipped from the Civil War to the Civil rights movement. Totally skipped the most formative part of the US experience.
Spent 3 classes just on Marcus Garvey and pan Africanism.
Though I got an A. Their math teachers at least spoke great English. Unlike the Chinese grad students LSU used. I had to drop trig (1550) because I could not understand a word the instructor said
Though the instructor at Southern was a creationist and taught us carbon dating math and then said it was all made up junk but we had to learn it.

I had Asian teachers for Organic 1 and 2. Very hard to understand, me being from the south and the technicalities of the subjects.
They were very nice and tried their hardest though.

correct, many shitty white lawyers have law degrees from Southern b/c they either couldn't get into LSU law school or just rather an easier avenue to a degree.
also, Southern needs a kicker for their football team so there's another white guy. Usually have a pitcher or too on the baseball team.
You get a few white engineers take some sophomore classes in the summer after they failed it at LSU.

If you want to be mad there are much better candidates for it than this. They are dumping inventory and trying to score some brownie points. Savings are going to the kids and not some grifter organization. I don't see the problem here.

In that case, then why not apply the discount to all colleges? Why pander to just one group of colleges?

For using the term "Historically White College." No, that wouldn't make you racist. Nor would offering a discount to students, faculty, and staff of that institution. Comparing HBCUs to the Klan, on the other hand . . .
Again, Academy is offering a discount to students, faculty, and staff of a group of institutions. They are not offering a discount to blacks only. Call me when Academy denies a discount to a non-black person holding a valid ID from one of these institutions.

Why does anyone have an issue with this? Donations to educational institutions is a good thing. Southern serves this area very well and we are lucky to have it hear.
