Meh, my newest dog showed up on the porch after what appears to have been a good while of abandonment. Skinny, dirty with mats in hair. She was as sweet that day as any dog I've ever been around and has become my favorite dog ever.

Why would it be so hard to find a cat? Not sure, I've never had a cat.

I think the conversation is based on the likelihood. Sure, maybe there's some crazy response that justified, I just don't think it's very likely, so I think it's justified to speculate.

Go frick yourself.

You gotta think. You've got a pet. You've got a responsibility. If your dog gets lost you don't look for an hour then call it quits. You get your arse out there and you find that fricking dog.

There is no telling what this person was going through. I myself would have tried to finds better way. I am not faulting the person per say, but as a pet owner, you have to plan for anything. If you can't do that , do not get a pet. It's pretty simple.

Might be an inside/outside cat. If so, it could have been anywhere.

You know how I know we would not be friends IRL? I throw out a classic Billy Madison quote and it flies right past you.

It's cold. I know.

I just can't wrap my head around people that are bringing multiple animals to shelters full of children.

I mean, you think putting a bunch of frightened pit bulls in a room with a bunch of screaming kids is a good idea?

I brought my pet with me but I'm not gonna condemn anyone that didn't.

In some cases, yes.

Because a cats response to scary stuff is to hide. They managed to go back and get it, but the people who evac'd them said you're going out on this ride which leaves in 2 minutes or you're not going out at all.

Dukee you can't plan for being stranded and only chance of rescue is national guard who won't take pets. Tough break but people first

Simply couldn't do it. I'd just have to load up the car with the family, what we could gather, 2 dogs and a cat and drive somewhere.

This is what people don't seem to understand, there was no driving yourself anywhere. Just about every person we picked up had their vehicles packed with household goods and kennels sitting flooded under their car ports. The few cars that were still able to run while under their carport were flooded as soon as they got 1/2 way down their driveway. When you are relying on others to get you out of harms way you don't get to dictate what animals you can bring.

I have a feeling Uptown Sausage was able to keep his pets close during Katrina because he either evacuated before the storm, drove out on his own after, or did not have to evacuate and was able to shelter in place.

This wasn't like Katrina where people had 3 days notice of a storm and decided before hand to stay or go. Yes we knew rain was coming but areas that have never flooded went under in a matter of hours and immobilized every vehicle these families owned.
