Not speaking for dukke, but my answer to that scenario would be "alright then I'm not getting on that boat. Thanks anyway."
Forcing people to put themselves in harm's way at a later time to save your stubborn arse.
How noble.

I would get my pets out one way or the other.

Baker police said not their jurisdiction. Sheriff referred me to Animal Control. As per a post, someone posted on Kent and Plank which is north of Groom Road. Faith Church is near there. Is anyone out that way that can check if it is still there?

Then yes, I would save your squirrel well before I saved your shitty cousin who abandoned the squirrel.
Oh, well if we are talking about that cousin...

So I know you, old neighbor. I hated your brother and always wanted to hit your older sister!

We obviously have different values.
Dogs (minus pits) and most other animals >>> Humans

People are talking extremes to rationalize their selfishness. The guy in the picture isn't stranded on a bridge in NO. If you don't like pets don't get one. If you do get a pet it isn't the same thing as a fricking toaster. Put it in the back of the damn truck if you are so worried about your interior, during a disaster.

I knew I should not have looked at this thread. I am sensitive when it comes to dogs (and other animals), I am sure there were people who had no choice but to leave their dog behind.. Its easy to monday morning quarterback, but I wish people would at least attempt to make sure their animal would be taken care of.

People are dying and losing a lifetime worth of possessions, but leave it to white people to worry about the dogs! Smh
That said, I could t imagine abandoning a pet tho.

By planning ahead. There was a very strong chance that this flooding was gonna happen. I knew this since last Wednesday. Unlike YOU I watch the weather.i have people in Miss that I could have gone to. PETS included. Damn you are one brain dead SOB.

Thankfully, the strong majority still favors human life.

Why don't we agree some would move heaven and earth to save animals and some wouldn't. Doubt anyone could change the others minds so fighting online doesn't accomplish much.

you think putting a bunch of frightened pit bulls in a room with a bunch of screaming kids is a good idea?
I don't, but I'd like to believe it's a solvable problem. I know at least one of the shelters had kennels outside. This is a transient event that will be over in a few days.

And I think the vast majority of humans are terrible and cringeworthy, while skippy the squirrel is pretty god damn cool.

Most people went to bed thinking they were ok and woke up stranded. Now what? Tie some pontoons to your trailer and float over to Mississippi?

quote:Right. Like in another example, if the rescue folks are there and tell you you have 2 minutes and they're leaving without you, yea you gotta go and leave the dog behind if you don't have 2 minutes to grab him. I get that.
I am sure there were people who had no choice but to leave their dog behind
But we seemed to have strayed from the OP, that seems to be pretty clearly not the case in the OP.
