Reminds me of a story about a guy who got bored when the wife was away on a work trip.

He took meticulous effort to create fake small bills, washing, cutting and using a makeshift printer with trial and error for mostly 1s and 5s… but a lot of them. He was an engineer by training and strangely dedicated to this newfound craft.

It worked well and he used the bills for a while on small purchases, gas and the like. Of course until the fuzz caught up with him when he went larger with 20s and a clerk ran a pen across one of them.

But the bill was so obviously fake, she had to know it wouldn’t pass.

I knew a guy that went to jail for counterfeiting. He said his favorite place to “ cash” was flea markets. He said they never checked especially the foreign booths. He said he got lazy and kept going to the same area. Feds got him

I stick to bogus $100s. I don't mess with $20s.

Hoping that lady wouldn't notice. Now she is off to the next store.

George Floyd might be alive today if he followed that strategy.

Rabbit-punch her in the back of the head and scream “Policia!” At the top of your lungs.

Situation will resolve itself.

There was a story a long time ago about guys passing countefiet 100's off and they were very successful...so they did the obvious thing (in their mind) and went to Vegas.

News story said the cashier didn't even look at the bill - it "felt" wrong and he buzzed security.

Pro Tip - Don't pass counterfiet money to people who handle money for a living.

I was going to say the same thing. "Movie" money looks pretty real and easy to buy. I can see how they can pass pretty easily if you are someplace really busy where money is changing hands quickly, or put a couple of fake twenties in between two or three real ones. I've seen people do this in "low light" areas like bars.

The counterfeit money is big in Baton Rouge lately. I guess it's a sign of the economy. My drivers have come back with 4 of them this month.

We've been mostly getting fake $50's lately.

Saw an interesting innovation with this earlier this month. Local department store had a device that received bills like an ATM and scanned them. Showed a green light if the bill is legitimate. Much faster and probably more accurate than dealing with the marker or holding bills up to the light.
