The guy one aisle over appears to be shirtless... things you'd expect at a Walmart

If you can’t find the Tylenol, the headache is on you.

Maybe his boss stiffed him on an end of the year bonus.

Only a dipshit would watch the video and believe it's an attempted kidnapping

I honestly think both sides are plausible. I have no idea if this dude was trying to kidnap the kid, but it also doesn't look like he was trying to save the kid from falling off the scooter either.

That's my issue with it. Randomly putting your hands on someone else's child like that is out of line.

I will say that if he went on about his business after this interaction (and went and bought Tylenol), then it lends credence to what he is claiming. If I was attempting to kidnap someone and it was botched, I wouldn't hang around the store and continue buying shite. I'd GTFO quick.

I doubt they do, but I wonder if there is any audio that goes along with the video. Seems like that could help here.

And they do this in a Walmart?

How many stories of actual "stranger danger" forced kidnapping have ever happened in the middle of a Walmart?

There are probably only a handful of places that are a worse idea to do this.

If he was trying to abduct the kid why didn’t he abduct the kid?

You’d think he would have made a dash for the door with the child or at least some kind of explosive movement to seize possession of the child.

I can’t imagine going to the store with a headache and then winding up spending next 2 months in jail for trafficking kids, a crime you are innocent of.

Our pretrial detention system in this country needs an incredible overhaul

I will bet a large amount of money his criminal record is pretty clean, if not completely clean

If that was the case, why would try to abduct the kid IN THE STORE?! If he waited in the parking lot, it's a different story

Which do you think is more likely?

A legit stranger danger kidnapping, which is extremely rare?

Or, this lady is making this up and the guy is getting screwed?

I think the people who think this was a kidnapping do not understand they are rare and believe they're common

They also don’t understand the incompetence and dirtiness of the Atlanta area judicial system.

Without any more facts that were presented than in the OP, I'm not sure.

Like I said though, if this guy went on about his business and bought Tylenol after this incident, I'd tend to lean more toward his side I think. But this logic:

..seems stupid to me. Just because something is rare doesn't mean you just automatically assume he had no bad intentions. Kids have very much been kidnapped from department stores before. You can't just cast that aside because it doesn't happen all the time.

I will say that it seems like this could have been investigated and something done about it a lot faster than it has though. Especially when you have someone (potentially fully innocent) sitting in jail.

What i love is the cops went after the video of the vehicle before ever reviewing footage of the incident. If it was an "attempted kidnapping" but the child never got away, wouldn't you want to make sure that's what actually happened - especially when this lady has a questionable history?

This was going to be my question. Has there ever been a case where someone walks up to a kid while the kid is with their parent in a Walmart or similar store and just tries to kidnap the kid? There are cameras everywhere, including in the parking lot. How would he expect to get away? If the mom just starts yelling that someone stole her kid, hows he going to get out?
