I believe the latest talking point is that racism can only be done by those in “power” or some BS

My question for this is always, is the power at the national level or at the city level? Can I, a white man, be racist in Provo, Utah, but then not racist in New Orleans?

raci
quote:

noun
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.
"a program to combat racism"

If you dislike people simply because of their race then you are racist. It doesn't matter what shade of skin one dislikes.

That person is obviously a jackass, so the answer is to not talk to them anymore

"white people" and "black people" are racist terms so there is that.

If “colored people” is racist, then so is the now often used term “people of color”.

It’s like changing your language from saying “yellow banana“ to “banana of yellow.” It’s the same thing.

Many people believe racism has to require the use of power, and that black people will never have power over white people.

The idea that black folks have no power is ridiculous. We had a black President ffs.

My bosses boss is a black guy, if he decided that he was going to fire me because I was white, how would that not be a racist act?

One side is definitely louder but after all, this is a thread by an apparent white person about what his apparent white friend said to him.

Look, I’m not taking the other side and in fact, have been told by the TD admins to shut up about my racial opinions in the past.

So, I’ll just exit the conversation now.

Merry Christmas, to all you white, black, and in-between fine folks.

Because, according to the racist left, you have all the power over your boss, so when your boss fires you for being a cracka-arse-cracka, that's just you being racist to him.

This had been pushed in academia for a good while now based on oppressed vs oppressor role. Essentially, whittled down Critical Race Theory.

-Racism is a natural human inclination
-If you say one group can't have that inclination, you are saying they aren't human
-If you say a race can't be victims of racism, you are saying they aren't a race

When my friends do this I just roll my eyes and tell them I'm not going to engage on such a ridiculous argument.

Most of the time, the argument is "well you can't be racist/sexist/blah towards the people with all the historical power/privilege's whatever", which is just insane. The Irish were treated like shite, different religions were treated like shite, and everybody has hated everybody at some point.

The second is that asinine reverse racism argument. If you walk in a straight line, and do a complete 180, you're still walking in a straight line. It's again horse shite.

The easiest way to ruin this argument is ask what happens if a Hispanic individual drops an N bomb. Both are minorities and not in power, so in theory they cannot be racist. They'll give some cop out of "zomg but it's only okay if they mock those in power" or some horse shite like that, to which you respond there is never equity so someone must be in power in that relationship.

the 'muh power structure' is a zero sum game. its parrot talk, when you think about it, it makes no sense whatsoever. ex: jewish people hold a great deal of power, probably the most overall in this country, practically rule the biden administration and banking. but god forbid you dare say they can be racist. despite, yknow, holding an incredible amount of power.

these people don't think about it. What i'm saying is, don't waste your time.

Just make a note of this 'friend' since they're the nonquestioning noncriticalthinking NPC robot type who would line you up in front of a firing squad if someone in a position of power said it was OK to do so.

You know when it comes to racism, people say: " I don't care if they're black, white, purple, or green." Uh, hold on now: purple or green?! You gotta draw the line somewhere! To hell with purple people! Unless they're suffocating, then help 'em.

That annoys me too.
It's almost like equality isn't the endgame. The endgame is control.

That’s 20 year old race theory. Blacks supposedly can’t be racist because they are not in power. What it really means is blacks can’t be racist because the standards are lower for them because…you know. It’s the most condescending arrogance, and I don’t see how prideful blacks can stomach it.
