definition of racist. "One's thinking their own race is superior to another"

Technically correct.

However, when one race holds most of the power, it doesn't matter if another race thinks themselves superior to those holding the power.

Such a shitty definition of power. If an Asian guy has a gun to my head, he holds all the power, and if he hates whitey and pulls the trigger I'm dead because of racism.

That’s both dumb and wrong. Stop trying to change the definition of words to suit your argument.

If your friend is using definition of "racist" which states having power over another race.....
I am white, but I hold no "power" over any other race. Also, power in what context? If a non white person at work is directed by me, I hold some power in the workplace (within the confines of law).
Once the person leaves work, my power ceases.
It's all bullshite, a way to blame the black races issues on the white race.
Which will never allow the problems to be confronted nor solved.
If they spent as much time trying to correct the real issues instead of playing a victim, they'd be better off.

Pretty sure that quote is more closely referencing political power.

So only black people can be racist in places like Chicago then, correct?

Show up to a pick up basketball game at the local court/gym. See where you are picked/if picked.

Welcome to racism against your crackerism.

If you’re white, they aren’t your friend if they believe that.

You need "talking points"? Geez, man, it's not that hard since every one of those type arguments is racist.

Start with "why can't you be racist against white people?"

"Because you have to have power..."

"So black and brown people can't have power? That's demonstrably false and pretty damned racist."

I didn't actually attempt to define power.

That's a good example that racism is meaningless without being backed by power.

Now extend your example from individuals to entire populations.

Who gives a hit if it's meaningless or not? Even if I have no power over a guy with a gun to my head, I can still be racist against that fricker

Your comment in no way addresses the topic at hand.

I'm sorry if my position makes you feel uncomfortable. I'm open to reading your position, if you can articulate it.

Dude, you can't be racist when you're dead.

Now consider that YOU hold the gun on the now unarmed racist Asian guy. How meaningful is his racism now?

Thinking the tone of your skin makes you superior to somebody else is racist, regardless of what that skin tone is, not that complicated of a concept to grasp. Attempting to tie ‘power’ to the definition of that word is akin to last year’s bullshite Lefty talking point that ‘defund’ didn’t really mean ‘defund,’ disingenuous semantics at best.

What about places that are majority minority?

Who is really in power? Who is really racist?

I agree, that's why I said in my first post ITT:
quote:

quote:

definition of racist. "One's thinking their own race is superior to another"

Technically correct.

But if there's no threat of force behind the racism, it's meaningless. Take Jcorye1's example of an Asian racist holding a gun to his head. That's a threat of force behind the racism, it is meaningful. Then jchamil chimed in and pointed out:
quote:

if I have no power over a guy with a gun to my head, I can still be racist against that fricker

Yes, but without any power or threat of force behind it, jchamil's racism is meaningless.

It's not hard to understand that for racism to have any meaning, there has to be some threat of force behind it.
