Taking 3 hours to do a 1 second job is the epitome of big government

Hang death row inmates or send them to the firing squad. Why we try to have compassion on these animals is beyond me. Why do they need to go painlessly or quickly?
Our “justice” system is in need of a retro.

Except the three hours it took to get the IV in wasn't part of his punishment. His punishment was death and that doesn't violate the 8th amendment.

Evaluation of the autopsy reveals that officials unsuccessfully tried for more than three hours to insert an IV line. The execution team then attempted a cut-down procedure, according to Reprieve US, which would have caused James to struggle and leave him with injuries on his hands and wrists.

This article is misleading.

It took 3 hours for them to get an IV. After the IV was placed he died in a matter of seconds. If he was non compliant then obtaining an IV can be damn near impossible. Most people use local before they stick with the IV needle making the IV insertion almost painless. Article is hot garbage.

Just for reference I have seen it take hours for a little old lady to get an IV at a surgery center. And that patient said it was no big deal. Keep looking for one.

I truly believe that this should be accountable on both sides.

The prisoner is set to die but if the medical team can’t efficiently do their job, then the prisoner is freed. Can’t torture the inmate because they can’t get it right. That becomes murder at that point and complete negligence

just give those frickers an overdose of Fentanyl. Seems easy enough to come by and very easy to overdose on it. Painless, you just stop breathing and go quietly into the night...

That is actually a damn good idea.

How much of the problem is companies not providing the drugs in question anymore?

Using older shite past its half life is a lot less likely to be effective than having newer supplies.

Seems as if the reason it is “cruel and unusual” is the drugs being withheld that would make this be more humane.
