Joe Nathan James Jr., 50, was set to be put to death at 6 pm and was later pronounced dead at 9.27 pm
James was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1994 shooting death of Faith Hall, 26, in Birmingham
Media witnesses were not transported to the Atmore, Alabama, facility until 6.33 pm and sat waiting until 9 pm
Reports say the execution officially started at 9 pm, with James's death warrant being read at 9.03 pm
Prison officials have said they 'cannot confirm' whether James was fully conscious in the minutes leading up to his execution
A subsequent autopsy shows that the execution began at 6 pm with the execution team failing to insert an IV

Examination by Reprieve US estimates that officials at the Atmore, Alabama, correctional facility took between three and three and half hours to carry out James' lethal injection.

They should have let that girl’s family beat him to death. Probably only take an hour.
Wait. So they weren't pumping him full of drugs for 3 hours, they were trying to start the IV? I work in a hospital and this happens sometimes. The patient isn't in agonizing pain getting an IV though. Not sure why they couldn't put it in his neck though.

How can it possibly be this hard to kill someone painlessly
Same. Why we complicate this so much has NEVER made sense to me. Also why it is so fricking expensive to do is absurd.
Just give them a big enough shot in the arm of morphine to knock them unconscious, then give them the same shot of pink shite in the heart real quick that Doctor Pol uses to put cows and horses down then call it a day. We spend way too much time thinking about shite like this

Really hard to imagine someone with this thought process.

I never understood why they do lethal injection, electric chair, firing squad, etc.
Put them in a small enclosed space and inject nitrogen into the room. Super painless. They feel zero.
