Mods. There's a thread from some Aussie newspaper that has the image attached of the discussion with unedited pics.

Def nsfw and very creepy.

One of the first photos I saw on 4chan was an Asian women with her forearms and legs chopped off laying on the ground. Granted the poster did not actually do the deed but I thought I don't need this shite in my head. Never been back.

They must have done it in the last couple hours. But why leave them up and just block out her privates? I guess at this point trying to take them down is pointless.

fricking attention. We have created a world in which everyone wants attention... and we have given them a way to get it from the whole world. History is filled with sick people and there really is no way to try to justify or explain why. They are just sick. Nothing more than that.

We are also currently living in the most peaceful time in history so stories like this seem out of the norm and make headlines. That toppled with how fast info travels now in the digital age and things like this get exposure faster.

Pre internet days this would just be another murder where it never left the local news.

They should be put down like rabid dogs. For something like this, after he's found guilty drag him outside in the weeds, put a bullet in him, and throw him in the river.

Yea I don't understand why we have to be so humane to inhumane people.

Our crime rates are out of control in comparison to other first world countries because we aren't harsh enough on violent crimes. Do you think people fear serving 30 years to life comfortably in prison? Nope

I bet they would fear being harshly electrocuted a week after being sentenced though.

i'm not anti capital punishment, but I dont think that torturing people as punishment or anything like that is something that this society needs

so reading 4chan this morning and I always forget how hard the posters over there try to be cool. It's not even creative crude humor "LOL tattoo wouldn't frick glad shes dead" "brb jerking off to thank guy for getting rid of trash"

I love a good over the line joke but majority over there are like 14 years olds that just found the internet and just throwing words their mom told them were naughty on the screen and thinking its funny just because they are "bad" words

I honestly don't know what's worse. The actual murder or the comments on 4chan and reddit

If you think humans as a race are humane you're just ignorant. There are countless examples throughout history up to and including present day that humans are anything but humane.

I'd be happy to argue it. You only think humans as a majority are humane because currently they are acting that way, and you live in America. The dominant world power with some of the safest living conditions and most well educated population. We as a country have grown soft and far too comfortable with ourselves. Our perception of the world has warped. It happens in every empire.

In actuality, in the real world, History has proven time and time again that humans will go along with pretty much anything no matter how gruesome or inhumane and our amazing gift of logic allows us to overcome the rational thoughts of empathy and compassion. Human sacrifice, slavery, wars, crusades, gladiators, Spanish inquisition, genocide, holocaust, Stalin, Hitler, Genghis Kahn, terrorists, Darfur, brutal warlords and dictators in large positions of Africa and the Middle East, North Korea, China, the list goes on and on.

Most things on that list were carried out by massive amounts of people within counties in plain sight of everyday civilians who never said a word or tried to stop it. Most things on that list were carried out logically to defend some ideal or to root out some perceived lesser-worth humans. Most of the things on that list we're carried out without the interference of people who had the power to stop it until it was too late or until the majority of the damage was already done.

Humans may act compassionate and sympathetic, philosophers may argue that we are all deep down humane and kind, but this is simply not true.

Thomas Hobbes put it best: When the circumstances are not under control and there is not political or otherwise power to restrain the human condition there is only one truth and that is the continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short.

Or maybe you prefer his quote personified in present pop culture:
"Their morals, their code... it's a bad joke. Dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. I'll show you, when the chips are down, these... these civilized people? They'll eat each other."

yep. Take a look at what ISIS is doing to infants, children, men/women in the ME. Look at what cartels do to people in Mexico/South America and its not really a mystery that some people are just plain evil.
People getting so worked up (see posts on page 1 of this thread) over this meager act of "barbarism" is a bit contrived IMO. While disgusting, I hardly find this (4chan) event that shocking.

outside of some pure shite holes, he's right

and the shite holes now are still a lot better than an average/solid place a few hundred years ago

i agree, but humans haven't been in this state of nature for like 10,000 years

humanity was fundamentally different a millenia later, and when you look at contemporary shifting/change, we're nothing like we were even 400-500 years ago. democratic values and capitalism/free trade have fundamentally changed what being human is (for the better)

I'll nutshell it for you: The Europeans estiblished a civilized society, and we converted every barbarian we could. The world needs to think us when they sleep in peace at night. Now, we need to work on our physco gene, and stop cutting up and eating people.
