But his stated effort to install soft on crime DAs is working swimmingly around the country. Crime rates are at all times highs in major cities. Can't wait to see what is next on his agenda.

It is pretty obvious what the ultimate "end game" is to this carnage:

Federalize the local police.

Why not in Nola. Bring in the national guard to stand at every other corner for all I care. The cops are outnumbered and the government at all levels are against them.

If I lived or worked in NOLA, I would buy the shitiest functional vehicle I could find. Probably won't stop you from getting carjacked, but will allow you to avoid the hassle of recovery.

You know, she resembles a character from a certain Charleston Heston film…I can’t quite put my finger on it.

You laugh but I’ve put off buying a new car. The high car prices don’t help, but they don’t mess with the old beater I drive

Two shot and killed in the “good” part of Metairie around 9:00 last night in my hood.

Saw that. Assumed it was some kind of domestic thing, but who knows anymore.

They want to do it in every major American city. While NOLA is such a fricking disfunctional Banana Republic that it would likely benefit from such a thing...

The political consequences of a nationwide takeover is pretty obvious.

I really wish I could get ahold of a stick shift vehicle.

Or you can buy a manual transmission car. The carjackers have no idea how to drive a stick. The carjacking on Audubon st Sunday was unsuccessful bc the car was a stick.

Same. My wife and I are going to drive both of ours into the ground.

I have also changed the way I drive recently. My head has been on a swivel, I leave multiple care lengths in front of me when coming to a stop, and I try to be in a lane where I won't be boxed in if it I can avoid it.

It is absolutely pathetic that we have to even think about these things.

It won't be long before a carjacker gets popped by a victim.

This was quasi taught by my drivers Ed teacher

I do it naturally now. Late at night driving through st Claude and lower 9 area I run all red lights after a brief stop and look both ways

That’s the thing though. Most these carjackers work in teams. Who’s going to fire the shot at one guy when there are 2 or 3 others pointing guns right at you.

Serious question - Do you guys ever think about moving when you’re legitimately basing your car choice off of crime? I’d imagine you think about crime when deciding about others things, like wearing a watch or ubering instead of driving.

I am much more cognizant that's for sure.

I have also removed anything that I wouldn't want to lose from my car. I was always having sports coats, papers, files in there etc.

Cleaned out now.

I get really worried about my wife because she definitely doesn't pay attention to things like this, but her car is pretty beat up so I'm not sure she would be a target.

We just stay in the house between the hours of 6 pm and 8 am. Small price to pay for festivals and Commanders Palace.

I wasn't joking. Between carjackings, shitty roads, and hit and runs, what's the point of driving a vehicle in NOLA worth more than a few grand?
