If you think you will be keeping the mileage relatively low this is an option you should consider especially if you are going for a luxury brand.

he wants a 350 hes paying either for bare minimum or fully loaded for 50-52k. Otherwise yes an IS or even an ES is more in range.

Or he can just get the new NX which is under 50k.

You can get a 2017-18 Lexus GX (Land Rover prado) with 30k to 40k miles for 34-38k. Technology sucks, but resale value after the initial new car hit is great. You can drive it until the odometer hits 95k and still get 20k for it. A Telluride with 95k miles isn’t going to hold that value.

Highlander or 4runner. Both easy to drive, excellent resale.

Press a button on the telluride vs a Lexus GX. Telluride buttons feel cheap. Different level of fit and finish. I would rather have a car run 200k miles with only oils changes/brakes, than risk a higher cost breakdown.

Umm, I have as I drive a telluride. My wife drives a Lexus. She likes the Telluride quality better. There are plenty of Kia models with over 200k miles and the maintenance is just as easy...

I’m guessing she likes the tech (apple carplay and whatnot). I would guess that with minimal suggested maintenance, 20% of KIA’s make it to 200k miles, where Lexus is probably at 80%.

My neighbor has a Volvo and it looks pretty sweet.

Your list sucks.

Toyota Highlander Limited, buy one 1-2 years old and put the savings in a college fund.

We love our Palisade. Perfect size and great handling, and having owned a BMW prior to this, I feel like it is every bit as “luxurious” although we do have the Limited trim level. I believe the newest year has an even higher trim level than that. Very happy with it.

Ok, you’ve convinced me. Kia is more luxurious and more reliable than Lexus/Toyota.

There are Toyota’s still on the road from the time when Kia and Hyundai were just a twinkle in a Korean’s eye.

True. That sliding door is a blessing in a tight parking lot.

It’s so great when these threads pop up and the “financial gurus” give advice on saving money instead.

Brickboard is a good place to do research. We've owned three of them. Some are better than others. Maybe even talk to an independent Volvo shop owner. Our V70 was one of the best cars we've ever owned, and we kept it for 17 years. If you do long trips, they are especially great. Best seats in the business.

I feel like I need to go to confession for a “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned”, and I’m not even Catholic.
