We have a gls 450. Fits all the kids. Really nice. Seems like overkill for just one kid. I like it, but given the choice and a small family, I probably pull the trigger on an Audi Q7. We had a Toyota Highlander before. I would absolutely recommend as a more practical vehicle.

I'd look at a 4 runner, since the 2020 model year, Car Play is available and they're built to tow

I drive a 4Runner and love it, but I think it's a terrible choice as a primary family vehicle. JMO, but there are much better SUV options out there for a family vehicle. Unless OP wants it to double as an off-road vehicle and is looking for 4WD.

My wife did that shite when we had our son. She insisted on not driving a minivan. Instead she burned through three SUV’s which never were adequate for our needs.

We’re empty nesters now and must contend with two elderly Mothers. Wife told me just this week that her Mother was unable to climb in her new 50K Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Son, don’t spend $50 grand on a damned SUV. If you must, buy a used one and save a lot of depreciation,

Problem is finding a used model with less than 75k miles or finding one where depreciation is substantial savings. May be able to find some models coming off lease but other than that not a lot out there

These, GMC Acadias, and Chevy traverses have horrible transmissions

Mother in law drives one. Very nice.

My only knock was the adaptive cruise control bumps at 5mph increments

Do you need high clearance or 4wd?
Is fuel economy a concern?
Do you care about depreciation?
Are maintenance and service costs a concern?
Do you plan to tow with it?
Do you want or need a 3rd row?
Any other items, such as seat comfort?

I just went through the same shite with the wife. Other than fitting in our budget, maintenance costs and seat comfort were top priorities. Ended up with a used yukon denali. Way too big, but wife likes it so...

Get an MDX. It's a lot of bang for your buck and will fit your price range.

Transmissions start clunking and slipping. Bought my wife one brand new and at around 40,000 miles, the transmission started to clunk. Did a little research and it is a rampant problem.Traded it in for a Kia Telluride and absolutely love it.

Palisade will take over this market. It is an excellent vehicle.

great vehicle but even the decked out one doesn’t compare with the higher end vehicles in the class.
