Which O-T baller wasted good money on this?

You would have been better served buying hookers and blow.

I need to figure out what part of this is so attractive because I can paint some random shite like this. I just need to figure out what about it draws the price.

Eh you really can't.

Modern and abstract art doesn't do much for me, and some of it truly is shite, but go try and imitate Jackson Pollock and yours will look hilariously bad next to his.

Now a better question is could any decent art student paint it, and I don't know the answer to that.

Modern art is more about ideas and process rather than the finished product. Knowledge of art history and cultural context at the time a modern work was created helps in the appreciation of the art. Although I think Pollocks and de Koonings....and Rothkos,Klees, etc. are beautiful in their own right. And the idea you could create what Pollock or de Kooning did given the time and place of when they did it is ridiculous. Pollock's work especially was radical for its time.

But people don't spen $500 mil because they like a painting. Abstract expressionist art works by famous artists are investments just like buying stock in Apple. The price of those paintings just goes up over time.

Isn't buying art a good tax shelter?

I just don't get abstract art. A bunch of shapes, colors and splatters. It means nothing. It's fricking stupid.

You sound like one of those pretentious assholes in an art gallery trying to explain bad art. "The shapes represent the dichotomy between man and nature."

Get the frick outta here with that bullshite.

Art is the paintings and sculptures by Michelangelo, DaVinci and other talented artists.

I mean seriously, who the frick thinks this is some great work of art?

I did one just like this at a festival when I was a kid on one of those spinning wheel things.

So you're another pretentious a-hole who thinks abstract art is something "only intellectuals can understand."

Bitch please.

It's really not impressive looking. Any painting that could reasonably look like a 10yr olds is not a great accomplishment.

Where did I say that?

Just because 1 closed minded a-hole on the internet doesn't understand it, that doesn't make it elitist in nature
