Great? Meh. Very important work of art? Absolutely.

BTW, I'd rather have that hanging in my living room that the Statue of David.

Really? Because it was painted by a 4th grader. LINK

Thanks for proving my point about Pollock being a talentless hack.

only place on the internet where there's a debate about the perceived value of modern art right alongside a topic about farting in front of your significant other...

Ridiculous. That's not art. Those are just props.

When I said he was a talented artist, I was referring to his paintings, if those are painting?

you really consider this Pollock a great work of art?

Some of his stuff is. I just saw a Pollock exhibition and when you walk into the gallery with the giant, colored splatter paint canvas it is incredible. I have seen Michelangelo's, Picasso's, Van Goghs, Munch's, David's, Matisses's......a lot of art in person and Pollock stands up to the best. It's a personal opinion. If you don't like it that's fine. I just ask that you educate yourself on it before passing judgement. And I think it's great we can have this debate on TD.

I thought you meant Pollock's work in general. Seriously, I didn't even pay attention to the pic. But hey you got me.

Saw some of his work at the MOMA. I agree, it changed my view of him. It was pretty incredible. Just as The Raft of Medusa did at the Louvre.

This pic doesn;t do it justice. But seeing it at 16'x25' does.

As a pretentious modernist, I wasn't prepared for how awesome a Remington or a Russell is in person. You gotta really go out and see this stuff.

So you've been there and have seen it? B/c the pic is boring.

Impressive is walking around a corner and seeing Gustave Courbet-The Origin of the World at the D' Orsay. Even more impressive was all the asians taking pictures of it.

So, you and Zappa's contention is that since I don't like most abstract art, that I can't appreciate any art? Is that it?

Pretty fricking weak dude.
