Anyone else find it ironic that the pistol killed a rabid LSU fan?

That "spat" was in 2014, according to the article. That "spat" was because his widowed 71 year old neighbor came home from a trip, probably a cruise or something, and found all her front yard plants dead. She asked Wiggins about his, he was in his front yard with his gun on his hip. Wiggins says that he killed all of her plants in retaliation for killing his cat. Widow says "I didn't kill your cat" and calls the cops. Wiggins answers the cop's questions and lies -- he says he didn't kill the plants and didn't admit it to the widow.

So, this guy Wiggins isn't going to be able to paint himself as some weak old man that got bullied for ten years until his snapped. It's evident that he was good at doing some bullying himself, which includes terrorizing an elderly widow by trespassing on her property to ruin her garden. What a sweetheart.

I wouldn't want to defend him, but if I did, I'd charge him top dollar, get my money first and plea him out, if I could, because he's got a good chance to be convicted of Second Degree Murder.

PS That guy who posted in another thread that Wiggins confronted him with a drawn pistol when the poster was looking at Wiggins's property which had a For Sale sign on it better be hiding from the prosecutor because I'll bet he's looking for him to be a witness. Wiggins's prior problems with people shows a pattern of behavior which involves irrational, provocative, retaliatory, destructive and intimidating behavior, or at least that's what I expect a good prosecutor would say.

If Wiggins tries to paint himself as an elderly gentle man who has been bullied by Lee Martin, he will open the door to rebuttal to show that he himself is a big bully who is not afraid to take destructive action against a target for a perceived wrong, even if that wrong is unproven or fallacious.

If he has any sense at all left it will never go to trial. He'll plead to manslaughter is my guess.

Remove the gun and two lives aren't destroyed. We are sick.

If I am the prosecutor, why should I accept a plea to Manslaughter after I have these incidents that prove Wiggins was himself a bully? One who killed an elderly widow's landscaping while she was away for a few days?

They are very busy over there prosecuting cases, so, I agree that a guilty plea for Manslaughter is a likely resolution. Manslaughter can put you away and I think that this "Wiggins is a bad guy" evidence might be admissible on sentencing after conviction, but I don't know for sure.

With the gun there two shitty elements of society have been isolated and virtually removed. Gotta count this as a win.

I’d say the winners here are the remaining residents in the neighborhood. Got rid of 2 cancers at once.

The neighbor said Higgins pulled his gun on people a few times. A poster here said he did it to him as well. He's lucky he made it this far using his gun to intimidate people so often. What kind of a-hole walks around his yard strapped all day?

Since this incident, I've heard a few firsthand stories about Lee that confirm what other posters are saying about their interactions with him. From what I gather, he wasn't all there, but was an okay guy.

After reading and hearing more firsthand stuff about Higgins, it seems like he was just waiting for the right situation so he could shoot someone

And what about all the shite big Lee did to him over the years that led him to that point? You ask around about those stories?

I corrected my error of 2018 vs. 2014.

My bad. Still shows the old man wasn't the "poor old picked on me" but an a-hole to other neighbors too.

I was going to say 500k seemed high for bail in this case, but now it makes sense.

At 78, I don’t think it really matters what they charge him with. Murder 2 OR manslaughter, the old fricker’s gonna very likely die in prison.
