First time he’s visited me here, any advice on fun things to do for kids his age?

I’m definitely gonna take him to see Mike for sure, but other than that I’m open to and needing suggestions. I don’t have any kids so I don’t know what’s fun for kids in BTR

(His parents live in Austin and are Texas fans, but I’ve definitely got him rooting for LSU as well)

ETA: I’m picking him up at MSY on a Saturday, is there a go-kart place for kids in Nola?

Hookers & Blow

(Fund set up for him, buy him a piggy bank and don’t tell him what it’s for)

The Kidd and its accompanying museum? He might enjoy the ship and the models inside the museum.

Take him on a “ride” on the Algiers ferry. You can go across and back fairly quickly and it’ll cost you more to park than to cross the Mississippi and come back.

Observation deck at the state capitol is also a good idea. Yeah, anyone can go

The trampoline park! Go earlier before moat of the older rougher kids show up.

Global Wildlife Center if the weather is nice.

Little boys usually love models, and are fascinated by slot cars and RC cars. This is the only place I could find near Baton Rouge. "Hot Rod Garage Slot Cars", it is in Walker. I have taken my grandson to the track/shop in Slidell and he loves the place, and the hobby.

None that I’m aware of. NOLA motor sports has go - karts but not the kind you’re looking for.

You could bring him to the putt-putt course in city park called city putt. Also near the children’s museum and you can get beignets at cafe du monde in city park after.

Wear him out a little bit before you head to BR.

Aside from other mentions here, the art and science museum downtown is pretty kid friendly too.

See all the LSU statues, Mike, maybe even a tiger stadium tour.

Aside from LSU related stuff, I think there’s some children’s Mardi gras parades going on around the state. Possibly Lafayette? The kids/dog parades are always kid friendly and fun.

The insectarium in downtown Nola is great for kids. Aquarium too. Zoo also.

This place on Dalrymple right by the entrance to the interstate looks pretty cool for kids. We pass it when leaving LSU games and heading back to Lafayette. If my kids were younger, we would definitely have gone there but my youngest is 23 https://knockknockmuseum.org/

Bring him to the new Rouse's and tell him "back in my day, you could get a king cake, Filled, for under 10 bucks, and crawfish were $1.99 a LB. A world you'll never see I'm afraid."
