Towing of vehicles is a regular]ted function in Texas….look up your state body that regulates towing and see what they can do.

This was less than a half mile.

I would have pushed it for $2k.

I had it towed to a body shop in town only to find out they towed it to the tow trucks lot and charged me $4000. This was less than a half mile. The insurance company doesn’t want to pay the 4k.
I have called the tow company to complain but they won’t move. I’m going over there in a few, to plead my case. Advise

This advice won't help you with this incident...but, moving forward...Just get AAA.

There's no way this is the full story. If you expect anyone to believe you're being charged 4k for a tow, you're out of your mind

They would move legally parked vehicles to get to illegally parked ones. they'd put them in illegal parking zones and then on their next trip haul off the ones they had moved.

I’ve seen this happen live. Luckily not to me, but frick those people.

They broke my driver’s side window towing my car somehow. No explanation, said not their fault. Closest I’ve come to becoming a vigilante maybe ever.

The towing industry is a blatant criminal enterprise.

how hard you hit the guard rail in a parking lot that you needed a tow truck?

^This^
Was the vehicle not drivable? How did you hit anything in a parking lot so hard that the vehicle was not drivable? How fast can you possibly go in a parking lot? And if it was drivable then why did you call a tow truck?

They towed it to their lot so they could get payment from the insurance company first, after that they were going to tow it to the body shop.

They said they were in rotation with other tow companies and they all charge like that if the police calls them.

Also the tow company said they would “ work with me” if I had to pay the 4k?

Yep hit the guard rail pretty hard to bend the bumper under, air bags did not deploy.

I went to city hall to complain and they said to got to the JP to see if they would help but said it would take some time to get before a Judge.

Yep $4,000. Just for a tow less than a mile. True Story. Tow company didn’t apologize.

Better call Saul.

Unless they have pics of me with naked Leprechaun, I’m not paying that.

there is a poster on here who posted a photo of the controlled explosion done in shreveport a couple years back for a movie of some sort.

anyway, he was given permission to set up his cameras to film it on a closed road and when he sent the pic, there was a catty-wumpus altima parked right in front of him in the middle of the freeway.

i said 'i don't even need to know the story' and he was like 'yeah they drove around the barricades to get a better view of the explosion and got in my shot'
