How attached are you to your vehicle? Are you willing to walk away from it?

my only guess is the body shop did the work, he did not pay. body shop had it towed to designated towing company lot until he pays for all the work and associated storage fees

Sounds more like the storage bill than the actual tow bill.

How many days did it stay there? Why didn't you follow up?

If you don't pay it, and your vehicle is paid off, they can file for the title to your vehicle.

When I lived in Austin, the local news discussed the traffic fatality of the day as opposed to the murder of the day in Nola.

They drive 90 up exit ramps.

If you don't immediately get in the exit lane they blow past you. Even if you have the blinker on, they will all blow past you at 90.

He probably left out leaving the truck on the lot for 2 months.

I had it towed to a body shop in town only to find out they towed it to the tow trucks lot

Why would the body shop have it towed somewhere else?

I'm guessing 1 of 2 reasons.....

Tow truck dropped it off but the OP let it sit there for days on end without getting in touch with the body shop. So the shop had no idea who the vehicle was for and it was just sitting in their parking lot.

Or....the tow truck that dropped it off left it in a spot that was blocking a garage door or driveway that the shop needed to use for moving other vehicles around. So the shop had it towed so they could have their driveway or doors unblocked.

There is a lot more to this story that you’ve chosen to leave out.

Yeeeea. There is no way a towing company picked up the vehicle, just said to hell with taking it where directed, took it to their own lot instead, and just handed over a bill for 4k.

If that was even remotely happened like that. I'd pay the most throat cutting attorney I can find double the 4k alone to rub their noses in shite in civil actions. Even if there would be no recovery. Im vindictive like that when someone tries to f__k me over.

So was the tow $4k or is that the storage fee because they have been storing your car for a month while the body shop caught up on their backlog?

Reading between the lines it sounds like the Body Shop quoted you but couldn't do the work yet. Told you to come get your shite or they could take care of it for you. You let the tow truck driver solve your problem and store it. Now you are paying for not getting proper storage.

If you think you are getting screwed call the AG and they will help you. Towing and shite almost always has set rates and protects you from getting fricked over too bad.

State police has a towing and recovery section that regulates this. If what you’re saying is true, I would call them and see if they can look into it.

Riverside towing

They would move legally parked vehicles to get to illegally parked ones. they'd put them in illegal parking zones and then on their next trip haul off the ones they had moved.

Damn, I had to have a semi with a loaded trailer towed from Frog City to Lake Charles 5 years ago, it was less than $1,000 bucks.
Around here, I can have a vehicle towed anywhere in the county for $200.00.
