I had it towed to a body shop in town only to find out they towed it to the tow trucks lot and charged me $4000. This was less than a half mile. The insurance company doesn’t want to pay the 4k.
I have called the tow company to complain but they won’t move. I’m going over there in a few, to plead my case. Advise

That’s on the body shop then if they did it without getting your approval of the charges.

Or are you saying that the tow company you called towed it to the tow truck lot incorrectly? Do you have any proof of where you asked them to tow it? Did they not tell you in advance how much it would cost?

Why the hell they tow it to the tow truck yard after it was at the body shop. That's on the body shop. If they're gonna be like that I wouldn't use them. Or did the tow truck company say screw it, we're bringing it to the yard instead and we'll charge this cat $4k

4K to toe a vehicle half a mile. Ouch. I've had mine towed 30 miles for less that $200

Wear a bonnet. Record from the time you get out of your friends car. Make sure to shove phone into the face of the employees. Mention how you were disrespected. Threaten to go to the news.

There is a lot more to this story that you’ve chosen to leave out.

Tow companies are the scummiest businesses around. Cash. No change. Deal with it.

Riverside towing was notorious during my tenure at lsu from 03-08. I was towed four times by them. I threw change and the person and called them a derogatory name. Calmly, they told me to pick it up and hand it to them. It was one of two times I’ve said that derogatory name to someone’s face in my life.

Comes out like a decade later or so, riverside was operated by the brother of a state rep.

Seems like there are some details missing here. You need to clarify.

Understandably. I doubt many would under those circumstances.

Has to be.

Tow charges are stupid though. I had to get a car towed in BR one time and called a few places and every one of them were upwards of a couple hundred bucks to tow it like 4 miles. I finally chose one and he came out and then once the car was on his truck he changed the agreed-upon price on me (it was only like 20 bucks more, but that was beside the point). He said something like "I didn't realize where I was bringing it, so I'm gonna have to charge you $___." And I was like is this what you do, get someone's car on your fricking truck and then try to reneg on your quoted price? And he was like no I just didn't realize where I was taking it. And I said I gave you the name of the place and the address, so of course you did. We ended up splitting the difference but I was pissed and next time I need to have something towed (which is very rare thankfully), I think I may just get a buddy of mine with a truck and a tow cable and do that shite myself.

But charging four fricking grand to tow a car 1/3 of a mile is insanity, and almost sounds very illegal. There has to be more information to this.

My corner of NWLA is absolutely packed with these mouthbreathing idiots, NE Texas trash. We should charge them 20 dollars a head to cross the border. They are lined up at the parish dump too, this infuriates me.

Big sign that says "Parish Residents Only"

All drive like complete assholes 85MPH on every road. It's no surprise there are so many fatal accidents there.
